About this property

Beachcomber is a 10-minute stroll from the sandy beach, Atlantic surf and scenic coastal paths in the vibrant village of Portreath, located midway between St Ives and St Agnes on Cornwall's dramatic north coast. Return from waterfront escapades to this modern holiday home and step through the sun room into an open plan living space to discover a light and airy interior. The eye is immediately drawn to the bespoke kitchen set beneath tall vaulted ceilings with granite work surfaces and a central island. Dine alfresco or at the chunky dining table. Relax on the large L-shaped sofa beside the glow of the wood burner. It’s perfect for families and couples at any time of year. This fabulous seaside bolt hole has a master bedroom with an en-suite shower room, a small twin bedroom and a third bedroom which can be presented as a super-king size double or twin bedroom on request.? To the rear is a small terraced garden, which is well screened from view, with a deck and summerhouse for sundowners and barbecues. The garden backs onto a wooded valley which offers shelter from the Atlantic breeze and wild flowers in spring and summer. There is off-road parking for up to three cars and secure storage for bikes and surf boards. Gwithian, St Ives, Newquay and Watergate Bay are all within easy driving reach, as well as the pretty coastal villages of St Agnes and Porthtowan. This detached bungalow sits beside a quiet road close the village centre with its host of amenities including shops, traditional pubs, cafes and restaurants. Experience the best pasties in Cornwall at Portreath bakery being only 5 mins walk away and stroll down to the beach to picnic. Portreath is a lively resort with lots of appeal for all ages. Popular among locals, families, surfers and especially body boarders, the wide beach is safe for bathing and operates a life guard service (during the main season) and a surf school offering equipment hire and tuition for all abilities. Children will love to explore the rock pools and sample an ice cream from the beachside café. For a change of scenery, follow the coast path along tall granite cliffs or hire a bike from the cycle HUB in the village. Beachcomber is actually positioned adjacent to the off-road coast to coast trail from Portreath to Devoran on Cornwall’s south coast.

With its sheltered harbour, beautiful Portreath was, in the 1800s, a hive of activity and industry as a major tin-exporting port. Today, the village attracts visitors from around the world with its wild and rugged coastline. High cliffs, secluded coves and sandy, surf-washed beaches typify the area while all around are reminders of the area's rich industrial heritage. Portreath offers a small fishing harbour, shops, a number of pubs, three cafés and a Chinese restaurant, while its safe, sheltered sandy beach is a popular attraction. For a great day out, visit the cathedral city of Truro with its cobbled streets, shopping centre, theatre, museum and great restaurants, just 14 miles away, or travel a few miles along the coast and follow the vast expanse of sandy beach, which leads down to Hayle and on to St Ives. A delightful holiday location.
