About this property

Blackwater 1 mile. Just two miles from Porthtowan and fabulous beaches along North Cornwall's dramatic coast, Appledore Cottage is ideal for a family looking to enjoy the surrounding coastal scenery and quiet rural delights. At the end of a small terrace of Cornish cottages, Appledore is set in a peaceful hamlet, boasting charming countryside views, with horses and rabbits grazing in the adjacent field. This delightful, characterful cottage offers a large kitchen/diner, two

sitting rooms (one with a woodburner), as well as three comfy bedrooms. There is plenty of outdoor space, with an enclosed front and rear garden, where children and pets can play safely, while adults can relax with a drink and enjoy a BBQ on a sunny afternoon. Park your car on the driveway and head through a gate and into the patio door at the side of the property, which welcomes you into the kitchen/diner. This bright space provides all of the appliances you could need to cook delicious home-cooked meals for the whole family, which can be enjoyed together around the dining table as you make plans for the remainder of your stay. After dinner, let the children get comfy in the snug, with a film on the Smart TV, as you relax in the main sitting room beside the comforting wood burning stove with a soothing glass of wine. On the first floor a double master bedroom boasts stunning countryside views, plus a convenient en-suite shower room. Two further bedrooms consist of a second double and large twin. A main family bathroom offers the choice of a bath or shower. Nearby Porthtowan has a wonderful Blue Flag beach offering immaculate pale sands; loved by surfers, it is also lifeguarded during the summer season making it safe for family fun. A small selection of bars and cafes make it a great place to stop for a drink or bite to eat - Enjoy the sea views over a meal at the Blue Bar, or some award winning fish and chips from Seasmiths. Set amongst dramatic cliffs, the length of coastline around Porthtowan provides breathtaking walks along the north coastal path towards St Agnes or Portreath, with much of the land well-kept by the National Trust. The iconic former tin mines are a reminder of the areas rich mining heritage. Appledore's location also makes it an ideal base for exploring further afield. It's as easy to go west to St Ives, St Michael's Mount, or even Land's End, as it is to head east via the surfing beaches of the North Coast towards Padstow. The beautiful South Coast is also within easy reach. Why not visit Trelissick Gardens (20 minutes drive) and then board the King Harry Ferry, as your gateway to the Roseland Peninsula? The city of Truro is only 8 miles away and has a lot to offer all members of the family, including the Hall for Cornwall and the Royal Cornwall Museum, along with plenty of retail therapy opportunities, bars, restaurants and cafes. Truro is also the starting point for boat cruises to Falmouth via the stunning Fal Estuary. A fabulous, well-presented cottage near the sea, perfect for families and lovers of Cornwall's beach life.

Blackwater village can be found in the picturesque countryside between Truro and Redruth in north Cornwall. The village has a Post Office, a shop and a pub serving food. From here, you can access the town of Redruth, formerly at the centre of Cornwall's tin mining industry and now at the heart of the World Heritage Site. The town is packed with quaint cafés, restaurants, independent specialist shops and attractions inducing the Gwennap Pit, the Murdoch House and the St Euny Parish Church. For a day beside the sea, Perranporth lies slightly further afield, boasting miles of golden sands and great opportunities to try your hand at surfing, while the city of Truro offers options for retail therapy and marvelling at its cultural and architectural delights.
