This north western tip of Cornwall is generally accepted as the most unspoilt area of the county, with its magnificent relics of ancient tin mines and its Celtic heritage. The area is used extensively in the current popular TV series, Poldark, and is a designated unesco World Heritage Site. Trewellard village provides a choice of restaurants and three pubs all within walking distance, along with local stores and a pottery and craft shop. St Just, a short drive or bus ride away, has its own selection of shops, restaurants and pubs.
Evidence of its past mining history can be seen dotted around including the famous Crown Mines, engine houses perched on the cliff face which are visible on the popular coastal walk. The Geevor Tin Mine and Heritage Centre is just a few hundred yards away as is the Levant steam engine, which can be seen working on certain days. Cape Cornwall Club is 3 miles away and open to all. This is a stunning and challenging golf course overlooking the Brisons Rocks.
This area offers dramatic scenery, beautiful coves, beaches and miles of heather-clad moorlands. Enjoy cliff walks to nearby Pendeen Lighthouse, or a scenic drive to St Ives with a harbour, art galleries including The Tate Modern and Barbara Hepworth Museum, and an abundance of restaurants, cafés and glorious beaches. The village of Trewellard is ideally placed for exploring the coasts, sights and towns of the west of Cornwall. Located on the north coast Barncott is an excellent cottage for your explorations. It's within easy reach of the coastal path, St Just, Penzance, St Ives, Land's End and St Michael's Mount. It is also close to various mine sites including Levant (NT), further along Levant Road, and Geevor. Indeed, Geevor is well worth visiting, and you could easily spend a day there. The local pub, Trewellard Arms, is just a few minutes walk away and we had two excellent meals there.

This is a wonderful cottage and we were delighted to return for our second visit. Being so close to the sea is fantastic and you can really get away from it all.The only reason I gave it 4/5 for comfort was the mattress. You could feel the springs and if felt a little like a water bed when you moved! Other than that, it was a delightful cottage and we would stay there again.
