Guests say

Rose Cottage in Cornwall receives high praise for its charming character, beautiful garden, and peaceful location. Guests appreciate the comfortable beds, welcoming touches, and the cottage's suitability for dogs. The surrounding area offers lovely walks and the local pub adds to the village's appeal. Some guests mention minor maintenance issues, but overall, the cottage provides a delightful stay.

Most guests found Rose Cottage to be clean and well-maintained, with only a few mentioning dust and a leaky shower. The positive comments on cleanliness far outweigh the negatives, indicating a generally high standard.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, stunning views, and proximity to local attractions and walks. The peaceful village setting and easy access to the Cornish landscape contribute to a very positive experience.

Guests find the cottage comfortable, particularly noting the quality of the beds and linen. Some mention squeaky floorboards and a tight shower space, but overall, the comfort level is regarded as satisfactory.

The cottage is well-equipped, with a spacious kitchen and a warm atmosphere. However, there are comments about maintenance issues such as a leaky shower, difficult-to-open windows, and inadequate lounge seating. These issues suggest room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

Guests frequently mention the thoughtful welcome treats, which include cream teas, wine, and other goodies. While these gifts are greatly appreciated, it's important to note that such gestures, though common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

About this property

Perfect for those seeking a countryside escape, the chocolate-box 16th century Rose Cottage sits peacefully overlooking fields, just outside the sleepy village of Manaccan on the South Helford. Absolutely charming, the cottage brims with traditional features - a thatch roof, beamed ceilings, stained glass window and an Inglenook fire place and is beautifully and thoughtfully presented. On the ground floor, the spacious sitting room is wonderfully comfortable and welcoming, with a collection of books and board games for evenings in by the fire. The lovely farmhouse kitchen floods with light each morning, and leads out on to the south-facing terrace and garden; a fabulous spot to sit and enjoy the views on a balmy summer's evening.

Upstairs, there are three shabby-chic bedrooms with plenty of storage, and a family bathroom with lovely freestanding, roll-top bath. Pretty as a picture, the creeks and woodland of the South Helford offer many beautiful walks and plenty of opportunity to get out on the water. Hire a kayak or sailboat and spend the day pootling along in the Cornish sunshine, perhaps stopping at a hidden inlet for a waterside picnic before heading home. Or why not relax and catch the passenger ferry to Helford Passage; here you can visit the stunning sub-tropical gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan. The village of Manaccan is home to a traditional inn and there is a shop in the village of Mawgan (approx 6 miles).

Perfectly positioned for a holiday of rest and relaxation, Rose Cottage is one to return to year after year.

The pretty village of Manaccan offers local facilities including post office/stores, 16th Century Inn and a cafe/bistro. The village is on the Lizard peninsula in south Cornwall and is about five miles southwest of Falmouth. Manaccan lies within the Cornwall area of outstanding natural beauty.

A few quirks like faulty door bolts etc but who cares. Set in a charming garden and near a great pub it's convenient for the whole of the Lizzard. We plan to book it again .

Everything at the cottage was perfect plenty of space for the 5 of us(wished we had brought the dog), would highly recommend. One note I didn’t see in the description that the property had a downstairs wc which was a welcomed addition
