About this property

A superb, stone, semi-detached barn conversion, set within the owner's peaceful, farmstead alongside 2 other holiday cottages. The Byre lies in a scenic, rural valley, a mile from the town of Lostwithiel and a 15 minute drive to the coastal town of Fowey. An ideal base for a couple to explore Cornwall’s beautiful countryside and coastline. An immensely comfortable, single storey barn, the open plan living space is brimming with country cottage appeal. Kick-back after a day’s exploring and relax beside the wood burning stove. A well equipped kitchen has dining for four and a double bedroom boasting a superking, zip link bed. Enjoy summer evenings on your private terrace or explore the 9 acres of meadows and ponds where you might meet the sheep (please supervise pets and children). The charming town of Lostwithiel is well known for its interesting antique and curio shops and has a great range of independent retailers and grocery shops. Spend the day at the famous Eden Project, its magnificent Bio Domes displaying plants from across the globe. The coastal town of Fowey, famously linked with the authoress Daphne du Maurier, who, for a period of time lived in Fowey with her family, is a vibrant harbour town brimming with galleries, gift shops and fashionable cafes and restaurants. A perfect choice for an escape to the countryside or for discovering Cornwall’s best qualities.

A pretty riverside town, nestling in the Fowey river valley amid picturesque woodlands and valleys, Lostwithiel is known as a centre for the antiques trade where time can be lost whilst browsing its curio and lifestyle shops that line the interesting streets. The town also boasts a fine collection of country pubs, restaurants and a thriving farmer’s market. The maritime town of Fowey, popular with sailing enthusiasts is within easy driving distance, as it the popular coastal destinations of Mevagissey and Padstow, with the famous Rick Stein restaurants. Lanhydrock House and gardens is just 3 miles away, while other places to visit include Boconnoc House, and the world famous Eden Project. For days on the beach, the long sandy beaches and dramatic coastline of Newquay and the Atlantic coast attract families and surfers year round.

We love the 'home from home' feel as the owner's, Ed & Nicky, have really thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. We very much liked the new sofa & armchair, very comfortable. In the kitchen the new non stick pans are of a very good quality and we are even going to buy some for ourselves! We were grateful for the welcome items such as Milk, Scones, clotted cream & Jam. The bottle of wine & the fresh flowers a very nice touch. Thank you again for a peaceful, comfortable stay at your gorgeous holiday cottage. We will be back!

Lovely Cream Scone tea on arrival. Great Honey available in nice size jars. (my one problem was as I am disabled (crutches) I did find the floor a bit slippy as it was a wet holiday, but that was a chance I have to take on holidays) Everything else was there for what was needed thanks.
