About this property

Historic home combining characterful charm and modern decor, perfect for a fun filled family break in South Cornwall.

This apartment is situated within the Old Carriage Works, part of a Great Western Railway building originally constructed in the 1860s and designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Arranged over a split level, the accommodation is in the centre of Lostwithiel next to the River Fowey. Lostwithiel is one of the original and oldest towns in Cornwall, known as a Stannary town due to its historic links to tin mining and the Duchy of Cornwall. The town is situated in a beautiful, wooded valley within easy reach of both Cornish coasts, the moors, and all of Cornwall s attractions including the Eden Project, the Lost Gardens of Heligan and Bodmin Jail. Walkers can join the Saints Way that runs along the edge of the town or explore the South West Coast Path for some spectacular views. Enter the wonderful historic building through the communal staircase and head up onto the first floor. You will be greeted with a stunning smoked screened door where you will enter through into the large modern living room. The original arched windows overlook the River Fowey, and this room offers a Smart TV, Blu Ray player, and PlayStation 4 perfect for those lazy days in by the feature electric fire. Carrying on through a doorway into a small hallway, where you will find a downstairs WC. Continue and make your way through to the well equipped kitchen/diner offering an electric oven and hob, microwave, dishwasher, Dolce Gusto coffee machine, fridge/freezer and washer/dryer. Enjoy a coffee at the breakfast bar for two and gaze out of the stunning large arched original window overlooking the trainline. Back out into the hallway and moving upstairs, directly in front of you is the family bathroom with shower over the bath and WC. To the left of the bathroom is a king size bedroom with a TV, wonderful large Velux windows overlooking the River Fowey and Loswithiel, stunning exposed rafters and an en suite shower room with a shower and WC. Directly across the hallway, you will find the second bedroom offering twin beds, with exposed rafters and Velux windows overlooking the trainline and filling the room with natural light. Outside, you can picnic in the shared grounds next to the River Fowey. There is off road parking for one car. Need to know: 2 bedrooms 1 king size and 1 twin. 2 bathrooms 1 bathroom with shower over the bath and WC, and 1 en suite shower room with shower and WC, plus 1 separate WC downstairs.
