With its crashing waves and long sand beaches, the north coast of England's renowned Newquay is an ideal destination for family outings. The area also offers excellent opportunities for river canoeing, biking, hiking, and other leisurely pursuits. Activities like tug of war, Carnival, and outboard motor races for seagulls are also organised by the friendly locals. It is a natural paradise for those who love the sea as the river Fowey winds its way through fields and wooded valleys for an 8-mile journey to the gentler southern coast. 30 when the cleaner had finished. The kerb appeal was non-existent. It could be much improved by tidying up the entrance. The courtyard was an damp alleyway with weeds, moss and dead flowers in pots and was untidy. The beds were comfortable. Upstairs was pleasant. Downstairs was basic with only two stools to go under the breakfast bar. Not enough kitchen pots etc. No decent views from any windows. There was evidence of damp downstairs. The village was really nice.

Two double bedrooms one with an super large ensuite. Improvements would include providing an iron and having a few more pots. The breakfast table is fine but there are only 2 chairs. You need to have 4 and they were not very comfortable. Breakfast chairs with a back and some padding would be better. Plants in the courtyard were all dead and better upkeep of these would improve the outlook.

However, considering it sleeps 3 to 4, the dining seating only catered for 2 so one of us had to stand up to eat. The kitchen is spotlessly clean but for a self catering cottage there were very few utensils and no oven gloves, which very much limited how we cooked. Storage in the bedrooms was a real issue too as there were no hanging rails or wardrobes and only one chest of drawers to share between a family staying for a week. The hooks on the doors kept falling off. Would suggest installing simple clothes rails in the bedroom alcoves and a row of hooks downstairs for coats. Access to the cottage also lacks curb appeal. The little yard is in need of a tidy up and the planters either emptied or re-planted. This is a shame as it’s a lovely sun trap but cannot be used as a garden. That said, the location was perfect with plenty of walks in the area, very easy access to town centre and great spot for children to play by the river and on the playing fields nearby.
