Guests say

Guests consistently praise the lodge for its beauty, cleanliness, and peaceful surroundings. The hot tub is a popular feature, and the property's seclusion adds to a relaxing experience. Some minor issues with maintenance and comfort are noted, but overall, guests are delighted and often express a desire to return.

The lodge is frequently described as clean and well-presented, with crisp linen and a fresh atmosphere. There are isolated mentions of cobwebs and a less-than-perfect bathroom, but these are exceptions in the otherwise high standards noted by guests.

The location is appreciated for its quietness, seclusion, and natural beauty, with mature trees and wildlife. It is described as peaceful and pretty, though some guests noted it is a bit further from local amenities than expected.

The lodge is generally found to be cosy and spacious, with a high-spec finish. However, there are comments about uncomfortable beds and a squeaky bed frame, which suggest room for improvement in this area.

Facilities are well-regarded, with multiple TVs and a well-equipped lodge. The hot tub is a highlight, despite some reports of jets not working. Road maintenance and heavy hot tub covers are noted as areas for improvement.

Guests mention thoughtful touches like a bottle of milk on arrival and a bottle of Prosecco for a honeymoon celebration. While these gestures are warmly received, it is important to note that such personal touches may vary and are not guaranteed.

About this property

2 Faraway Fields is a beautifully appointed cedar-clad lodge sitting quietly within the Cornish countryside, within easy reach of the harbour towns of Looe, Polperro and Fowey to the south and the rugged landscapes of Bodmin Moor just inland. Designed for couples and small families seeking privacy, seclusion and a genuine sense of escape, this single-storey retreat offers spacious, characterful interiors and a natural setting that encourages you to slow down from the moment you arrive. Arriving at the lodge, there is an immediate sense of calm, windswept wildflowers, the soft movement of trees and a gentle stillness that settles around you and stays.

The lodge sits privately within its surroundings, with gentle trails leading directly from the front door and a friendly onsite team on hand during your stay. Step inside and the lodge reveals itself as a bright and characterful space. A skylight above the kitchen and multiple sets of patio doors flood the interior with natural light, while elevated views across the countryside give the living area a feeling of real openness. A characterful beam overhead adds warmth and substance, and two leather sofas sit facing the view, a natural place to watch the light shift across the landscape whilst flicking on the TV for a film.

The kitchen is well-appointed with wooden countertops and contemporary white fixtures, and everything needed for relaxed meals at the breakfast bar or around the dining table. The master bedroom offers a king-size bed dressed in hotel-quality linens, its own en-suite shower room and patio doors opening directly onto the decking, while the twin room is suited to younger guests and served by a family bathroom finished with fluffy towels and thoughtful toiletries. Outside, a spacious lawn gives way to a generous decking area where the hot tub comes into its own, whatever the time of yea, warm water and open sky, with sunsets that linger and stars that appear with a clarity that feels quite special.

Step out afterwards, wrapped in a boutique bathrobe, and the cool evening air feels all the more refreshing. Rabbits move quietly at the edge of the grounds, birdsong carries from the surrounding woodland, and the stillness that settles across the landscape as the day draws in is one of the lodge's quiet rewards. When the mood shifts towards an evening out, the Old Mill Bar and Restaurant at nearby Stonerush Lakes offers wood-fired pizzas, handcrafted cocktails and tables beside the water in a warm and atmospheric setting. While wonderfully peaceful, 2 Faraway Fields is well placed for Cornwall in every direction.

Looe, Polperro and Fowey each reward a visit along the south coast, while Bodmin Moor, Cardinham Woods and Siblyback Lake offer walks ranging from dramatic to gentle. Golitha Falls makes for an ideal picnic afternoon, and the north coast, Padstow, Port Isaac, Newquay and Polzeath, is easily reached via a short drive, as is Plymouth for a city day out. Beaches range from the sheltered coves of Talland Bay and Readymoney Cove to the classic stretch of East Looe Beach, with kayak and paddleboard hire and a seasonal lifeguard patrol. Stretches of the South West Coast Path connect much of it on foot.

For family days out, the Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Carnglaze Caverns, Porfell Wildlife Park, the Shipwreck Treasure Museum at Charlestown and Adrenaline Quarry all sit within easy reach, alongside boat trips and sea safaris from Looe. 2 Faraway Fields, a quiet, characterful retreat in the heart of Cornwall, and somewhere that is easy to return to.

Dobwalls is a lovely rural village surrounded by open fields and wooded countryside. Just three miles from the market town of Liskeard, and close to the slopes of Bodmin Moor and the north and south Cornish coastlines, you are well-placed to discover the best of the coast and coutnryside Cornwall has to offer. The picturesque fishing harbours of Looe, Fowey and Polperro are all within 15 miles south, while Padstow and the surfing beach at Polzeath lie a comfortable drive away on the North Coast. The Eden project lies within 15 miles and Plymouth is just a 30-minute drive or 25-minute train ride from nearby Liskeard station. With the Barbican harbour district, renowned aquarium, and good selection of shops, restaurants and theatres, this is a great holiday base.

It was a really convenient base for visiting the local attractions and went to a couple of Christmas markets, which were great and got us in the Christmas spirit. We loved that we could relax in the hot tub after a day out exploring. Can’t wait to return. I would highly recommend this site.

Lodge was spotlessly clean and comfy. A very peaceful spot with Robins singing outside. We had everything that we needed. The only improvement to be made is the bed needs a proper double mattress not two singles put together, and the hot tub could have had a bit more power from the jets. Thank you ☺️

Beautiful scenery. Quiet and peaceful. Accommodation absolutely lovely. Spacious and very well equipped. Can’t fault it. Hot tub a bonus and very well maintained.
