About this property

Tywardreath 2.6 miles. Nestled on the edge of the harbour in Golant near Tywardreath, Island House is a fabulous, family-friendly cottage in Cornwall. The property is an idyllic spot surrounded by water on three sides at high tide, with water views from every window and charming character throughout: a picturesque base for a family or group of six's Cornish holiday, with two well-behaved dogs welcome! Off-road parking ensures an easy arrival before stepping inside to find a well-equipped kitchen for a self-catering stay, where guests can dine in the light-filled dining area. Retreat to the sitting room decked with limestone-flagged floor, rugs and exposed beams for a homely space to snuggle up in front of the woodburning stove. For a quieter spot, set yourself in the charming little study with a desk and selection of books. Spend summer evenings admiring your beautiful surroundings from the garden, conveniently enclosed for pets and children, along with a barbecue and seating area to dine with riverside views. Climb the twisting stairs to the first floor for views of the river moorings and the Victorian railway embankment, where you'll find a stylish bathroom with sloped ceilings and beams for a relaxing soak or a hot rinse in the shower. All three bedrooms have been thoughtfully appointed with attractive furnishings and décor to make yourself at home; choose between a king-size with TV and twin, whilst the master king-size is located up a separate set of stairs from the kitchen, featuring a TV, en-suite shower room and a balcony to watch the sunrise with your morning coffee. If you can tear yourself away from Island House, Fishermans Arms is a wonderful pub to take a break from cooking and enjoy views of the estuary, and those seeking outdoor adventures can paddle board along the River Fowey! A short journey takes you to Tywardreath, a hilltop town offering excellent pubs and shops, whilst Fowey lies further along the coast; stroll through Fowey Museum, visit Fowey Aquarium or visit Whitehouse Quay. Resting on Cornwall's renowned coastline, there are plenty of sheltered, dog-friendly beaches to spend lazy days soaking up the sun and paddling in the sea; discover the likes of Readymoney Cove and Polridmouth Cove with glorious coastal paths for hikers to enjoy. For a family-friendly cottage in Cornwall in an unforgettable setting, book your stay at Island House.

Tywardreath, which means 'The House on the Strand,' is a charming, historic Cornish settlement that appears in Daphne du Maurier's novel of the same name. The town church, St Andrew's, is regarded to boast the best peal of bells in the area, and the village has a vibrant community centred around its great taverns and diverse selection of stores. Near the settlement, there are many safe, sandy beaches with a variety of watersports and recreational activities. A fifteen-minute walk or five-minute drive from the town is Par, a tiny china clay port with a dog-friendly sandy beach and a major line railway station.

Welcome pack first class. Beautifully clean. Loads of new wooden coathangers in the wadrobes. Fresh flowers to greet you. Everything you'd need especially in the kitchen superbly equipped sharp knives dog bowls binoculars with bird book beside. A1. Could suggest a coffee machine nexpresso or similar and rugs/more light in the sitting room to make it perfect. Thank you Simon and Elaine for a wonderful week to remember.

It was well equipped, and comfortable. The views were pleasant, and we loved watching the high tides. It fascinated us how the road flooded! The pub across the road was great too. We did find it tricky at times to get both cars on the drive, but we already knew this. The house is in a super location for exploring the local area, which we did every day, despite the weather. We would definately look to stay here again, if we were coming back to the area. Thank you for the welcome hamper, it was very kind of you and very much appreciated.

My wife and I generally visit Island House twice a year, and that's not enough.
