About this property

Marhayes is one of two 200 year old barn conversions which have been modernised to create spacious and luxurious holiday homes, within Helsbury Park just outside Camelford. One of three luxury properties that is completely dog friendly and offers fantastic accommodation and amenities for the whole family to enjoy. There is a shared and heated indoor swimming plus 100 acres of countryside to explore. Refurbished to maximise its charm and comfort using traditional materials such as slate and granite and luxuries such as a range cooker and wood burner for winter cosiness. The living accommodation offers a generous kitchen/diner and open plan sitting room, ideal for socialising with family and friends. It also has a downstairs bathroom and utility room. There are two super bedrooms both with king-size four poster beds and one twin bedroom with twin beds or zip linkable to a king size, all bedrooms have stylish en-suite shower rooms.

Built at right angles to Westhayes (which also sleeps 6), the two barns share a front lawn, each has a separate outdoor sitting area with barbecue, an enclosed private area to the rear where dogs can be exercised in a controlled space, along with an outdoor kennel. Situated in the heart of North Cornwall this unique site is nestled in between three Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty: The Camel Valley, Bodmin Moor and the North Cornish Coast, this superb venue not only offers luxurious accommodation but is also totally dog friendly. Stroll around the private grounds which include a river, bridge, woods and pasture - it will take you about an hour to loop the whole garden. Take in spectacular vistas of Bodmin Moor and the Camel Valley with a view of Roughtor and Devil's Jump to the east and the river valley to the south.Marhayes is a very tempting choice for a holiday for family and friends to explore the surrounding area or just to stay on the park. For larger groups we also let the adjoining property: Westhayes (959871).

The quiet market town of Camelford is located close to Cornwall's north coast and is ideally situated for exploring the wild country of Bodmin Moor and the high cliffs, hidden coves, fishing villages and surfing beaches that populate this beautiful area. The southwest coastal path is a year round attraction and the surrounding villages and hamlets harbour a wealth of country inns and restaurants. The nearest beach to Camelford is Trebarwith Strand. Truly wonderful and only around five miles away, it is perfect for a day by the sea. Nearby Wadebridge has a vibrant shopping centre and the Camel Trail, while Padstow, Rock, Polzeath, Port Isaac, where Doc Martin is filmed and Tintagel can all be reached in less than 20 minutes. A superb location all year round.

The property is beautifully furnished and everything you need is available. We explored the walks on site and enjoyed watching the dogs have the time of their life. The location is ideal for exploring Cornwall and we also had some lovely afternoons enjoying the pool & sauna. To find somewhere that is truly dog friendly rather than dog tolerant is perfect - it’s all about them really isn’t it

A few of the windows had very noticeable leaks and rain water coming through which required our attention, although it didn’t ruin our holiday and we will be back again.
