Guests say

The Stable at Lee Barton Farm offers a peaceful and tranquil rural retreat in Cornwall, with guests praising its cleanliness, comfortable beds, and well-equipped kitchen. The property's beautiful setting, proximity to beaches and Bude, and the welcoming farm owners contribute to a delightful stay. The gardens and play area are appreciated by families, and the occasional welcome gifts add a thoughtful touch. Some minor issues with facilities are noted, but overall, guests are highly satisfied and often express a desire to return.

Guests consistently mention that the property is spotlessly clean, with several reviews highlighting the cleanliness of the accommodation. The provision of fresh white bath sheets and clean bedsheets is frequently appreciated.

The location is highly praised for its quiet, rural setting and proximity to beaches and the town of Bude. The picturesque surroundings and accessibility to local attractions contribute to the positive feedback, although some guests mention narrow access roads.

Comfort is generally well-regarded, with guests finding the beds comfortable and the property well-equipped for a relaxing stay. However, a few guests mention issues with the shower temperature and water pressure, as well as a desire for more coat hangers and cushions for added comfort.

The facilities are often described as comprehensive, with a well-stocked kitchen and useful amenities like dishwashers and washing machines. Some guests experienced minor maintenance issues such as a non-working oven and fluctuating shower temperature, which slightly impacted the score.

Several reviews express gratitude for the thoughtful touches provided by the hosts, such as welcome gifts of milk, biscuits, tea, and coffee. While these gestures are warmly received, it is politely noted that such gifts are not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

The Stable, once part of the original farmhouse at Lee Barton Farm is a pretty ivy clad, stone building and offers lovely long views of the surrounding countryside and is just 5.5 miles from the Centre of Bude. Step inside to a comfortable sitting room with relaxing sofas, a dining area and a fully equipped kitchen to prepare family meals. There are two bedrooms; a double and twin room, which share a family bathroom. The cottage opens onto a large lawned garden ideal for relaxing at the end of a long day exploring this popular area. Great for families or friends looking for a quiet peaceful holiday, yet close to the beach.

Kilkhampton is an historic Cornish village, 4 miles from the popular Victorian seaside resort of Bude, one of Cornwall’s premier holiday locations. With its old church, village shops and atmospheric village pubs, Kilkhampton is a lovely place to relax after a hard day exploring the stunning beaches and spectacular coastal scenery for which the area is famous. Bude’s beaches attract surfers from all over the country and when conditions are right you’d be hard pushed to find better surf. When the tide is out, miles of golden sand and hundreds of rock pools keep visitors occupied for hours. The South West Coast Path, and many other rights-of-way winding over the clifftops and through lush green fields looking out over the sea, make this area a haven for walkers and lovers of the open countryside. For those who prefer staying closer to home, a good shopping centre and a selection of pubs, two clubs and restaurants are on offer. Bude canal, a registered nature reserve, passes through the town, and rowing a boat along its calm waters or walking the towpath among the beautiful (and friendly) water fowl that live among the reeds is a great way to spend an hour or two. Within the area there are also 2 golf courses, an indoor swimming pool, bowling alley at the leisure centre. A perfect location for all that North Cornwall has to offer.

The cottage was cold with only one storage heater and a couple of electric oil radiators for heating. Also the shower had a very weak flow once you turned it up to warmer water.

Mr and Mrs Hobbs, the owners, were friendly and very welcoming. We enjoyed the large communal garden and local walks. Bude is a great little town. We spent time swimming in the sea pool, surfing off Summerleaze and Crooklets and shopping. The ice cream shop was awesome!

The family at the farm were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
