The picturesque and unspoilt harbour of Charlestown is also worth a visit. Built in the early 19th century for the export of copper and china clay, it is home to a collection of old ships which have been used in film projects like The New World and Brotherhood of the Wolf. It s Shipwreck and Heritage Centre has the largest UK collection of artefacts and treasure recovered from shipwrecks, making it one of the best places of historical interest to visit in the region.
