About this property

Bitton 1.4 miles. Resting in a peaceful location among nothing but countryside and far-reaching views is this detached barn, The Lodge. Set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, down a private track, this lovely lodge is a true escape from everyday life for a couple to enjoy, any time of year. On arrival, the decking offers somewhere to unwind with a cup of tea and admire the view. Step inside the open-plan space where you can find all the necessary kitchen equipment for cooking up a storm, dining on your feast, and relaxing for a while before bedtime. A double room provides you with space to rest your head before a day of adventures, while the shower room is where you can freshen up and prepare for your day when you wake. When you’re not in the mood to cook, make your way to the nearby Upton Inn for a casual meal out with your loved one. Get your walking boots on and embark on a long walk around Kelston Round, a perfect route for savouring the area’s stunning landscapes. Embrace the history and culture of Bath, known for The Roman Baths and its striking architecture; you can also find a wealth of pubs, restaurants and bars, and the National Trust's Prior Park Landscape Garden. Alternatively, make your way to Bristol for a visit to the Museum and Art Gallery, Bristol Cathedral and yet more eateries to choose from. If walking, cycling and exploring is your style, the Cotswold AONB is filled with endless opportunities, whether that’s discovering quaint villages or open fields. Whatever your style of adventure, choose The Lodge as your base.

A charming village in south Gloucestershire, nestled in rolling hills between the lovely city of Bath and the historic Marine city of Bristol. This delightful village, with a lovely local bar, sits on the outskirts of the Avon Riverside, which provides great days out as well as the ability to stroll or cycle along the rebuilt railway line. Bitton is adjacent to the Mendip Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with Chew Valley Lakes and steep Gorges to explore, a truly spectacular setting. To the north, the Cotswolds provide a more undulating landscape with lovely settlements. Bath's Georgian alleyways make for an exquisite day out, while dynamic Bristol has plenty to offer, including trips to the theatre, aquarium visits, and simply resting by the sea.

Remote describes it well, but only two of three miles from main roads to Bath and Bristol. As parking is virtually impossible in Bath, we found it brilliant to drive 3 miles to the Park and Ride at Lansdown. (Free if you have an old person's bus pass.) There's a lovely old pub in the village and walks all round. The Lodge is one of the best we've stayed in and we thoroughly recommend it. All equipment is of high quality. All is warm and cosy with a comfortable bed. Pretty garden.
