About this property

Surrounded by wildlife and natural beauty in the peaceful village of Dundry sits this charming holiday home, filled with wood beams, full-height windows, and chic décor. It’s perfect for a group of up to four guests.

A lovely open-plan kitchen-dining area opens out to the garden with folding doors. With an abundance of natural light and a soft neutral palette, this is a great space to feel at one with nature. Hints of the property’s heritage as a former stable can be seen throughout, with saddles mounted on banisters and horse-themed artwork. Enjoy a coffee and croissant at the breakfast counter while gazing out at the local birds and butterflies in the garden or enjoy an atmospheric meal at the round dining table.

A stylish glass and wood staircase leads up to a cozy mezzanine with a comfy sofa and skylight for you to recline and look up at the stars. Meanwhile, the main living area is great for cozying up together by the wood burner for a movie night or a board game or two.

The modern kitchen is compact and elegantly arranged with everything you will need during your stay, from a fridge, dishwasher, 2-ring hob, combi-oven, right down to the champagne glasses! In a separate room, there is a washing machine and freezer for your convenience.

The bedrooms are divided into a lovely king-size room and a twin room (that can be converted to a super king), both benefiting from French doors leading to the patio, allowing you to take in the morning air. En-suites for both rooms have walk-in showers with rainfall heads. Bed linens and towels are included for extra convenience.

Step out to your ample outdoor space to enjoy a delicious meal cooked on the charcoal BBQ and enjoyed at the secluded patio table and chairs. At the front of the property is a lovely open pond, a great place to spot local wildlife and engage in the natural beauty of the area.

With a range of sights within easy reach, from the city of Bristol and the spa town of Bath to the stunning Cheddar Gorge and the famous Glastonbury, there are plenty of places to get out and explore if you can tempt yourself away from the calming haven of Butterfly Stable.

There is much to do in the lovely local area surrounding the peaceful town of Dundry. Keen walkers will want to take a hike over to the limestone landscape of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Mendip Hills, where there are many recreational trails to explore. Or why not head to the seaside with a trip to Portishead Beach, where you can spend a lovely day splashing in the water, skimming stones, and enjoying fish and chips by the shore.

With the bustling city of Bristol just a twenty-minute drive away, you can fill a day visiting a range of sights from Brunel’s former steamship, the SS Great Britain, to Bristol’s Museum & Art Gallery. There are plenty of shops and restaurants to explore and discover too in this vibrant city.

Half an hour away, set in the natural beauty of the Cheddar Valley, is the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Cheddar Gorge, and Caves. With awe-inspiring cliffs and subterranean wonders in the caves below, it’s an undisputed must-see when in the area. Not only does it hold fantastic exhibits on the ancestral history of the caves, but it also offers an opportunity to get active and adventurous through rock climbing tours and excursions.

For a gentler day of sightseeing, why not head to Wells Cathedral City, just over thirty minutes’ drive away. The stunning Anglican Cathedral dates as far back as 1239 and has one of the oldest working clock mechanisms in Britain within its beautiful structure. For more historic inspiration, make sure you take a trip to Vicar’s Close, believed to be the oldest residential street with original buildings survived to this day, dating back to the 14th Century.

The famous music festival town of Glastonbury is well worth a visit at any time of the year, with a rich history steeped in ancient myth. Believed to be King Arthur’s burial place, Glastonbury Abbey’s ruins are a fascinating display of 7th Century architecture, with museums and Iron Age exhibits found across the town celebrating its rich culture and history.

Just forty minutes away is the lovely city of Bath, once a Roman spa retreat. Live it up like a Roman in the mineral-rich rooftop pool at Thermae Bath Spa, a fantastic spot to unwind in the heated water and take in the panoramic views. Then pay a visit to the historic Roman Baths, well-preserved thermae dating back to the Fifth Century AD. Although visitors cannot access the water, you can marvel at the Roman Temples, Sacred Spring, and survey historic artifacts at the museum.
