Sturt Lodge is praised for its peaceful and quiet setting, friendly staff, and pet-friendly accommodations. Guests appreciate the well-equipped lodges, beautiful surroundings, and nearby walks and pubs. While some mention the lodges are a bit dated and have minor issues, the overall sentiment is positive, with many looking forward to returning.
Most guests found the lodge clean and well-kept, though there were a few reports of dust, webs, and an unpleasant smell in one instance. These seem to be exceptions rather than the rule.
The location is highly regarded for its tranquility, lovely walks, and proximity to good pubs and attractions. Some noise from nearby MOD land was noted, but it didn't significantly detract from the overall experience.
Guests generally found the lodges comfortable, with underfloor heating and good beds. However, some noted that the mattresses could be firmer and the double bed was low, which affected the comfort level for a few.
The lodges are well-equipped with necessary kitchen utensils and clean facilities. Some guests were disappointed by the absence of a hot tub and issues with WiFi and TV services, suggesting room for improvement in amenities.
There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the hosts, so it is not possible to provide a score in this category.

Stayed at Tilford Wood Lodge retreat during February half term, it was a holiday of two halves. On the plus side I was happy with the location, I thought the inside of the lodges was lovely & staff seemed nice. The utilities and shower were very efficient and it is highly likely we will be back because of the country feel and good value for money. On the downside, our boiler leaked for the whole visit, due to a missing part, there was clothing found in a drawer and there were suspicious scurrying noises heard every night through the wall of the main bedroom. It’s a country location and I expect to hear general wildlife, but I think something had made its home and so sleep was rather disturbed.

Disappointed with what used to be a quiet retreat but has turned into temporary housing for noisy construction workers

Great Lodge , was very warm during the night which was great for this time of year.Very clean on arrival.Shower Gel and shampoo that was supplied. Was very limited it was not really fit for for its purpose as it was very very small around 2 inch container . Our outdoor light did not work which was a pain as we had bought our dogs and as it was dark by around 16.30, it was difficult to see where you was going in the dark to access the front door , we did report this but this never got fixed during our stay .I would stay agin but I think k would upgrade to the lodge with a hot tub .
