Guests say

The Mews in Goudhurst is praised for its perfect location, comfortable setting, and thoughtful touches like a welcome hamper. Guests appreciate the cottage's proximity to shops and sights, its well-equipped nature, and the quiet environment. While some mention issues with dampness and traffic, the overall sentiment is positive, highlighting the property as a lovely retreat and a good base for exploring Kent.

Most guests found the cottage to be clean and tidy, with an 'excellent starter package of food'. However, one review mentioned the need for a 'good Spring clean', suggesting room for improvement in this area.

The location is frequently described as perfect, quiet, and convenient for local shops and main roads. Despite one mention of traffic issues in Goudhurst, the overall feedback on location is very positive.

Guests report the cottage as comfortable and warm, with comfortable beds and a peaceful atmosphere. The presence of a dehumidifier suggests an effort to maintain comfort despite one report of dampness affecting a guest with asthma.

While the cottage is described as well-equipped and well-appointed, specific references to maintenance issues like the need for blackout curtains, outdoor meal table, and kitchen utensils replacement prevent a score. Without a broader range of reviews discussing facilities and maintenance, a score cannot be accurately provided.

The provision of a welcome hamper and other essentials is frequently mentioned and appreciated by guests, indicating a high level of thoughtfulness. It should be noted that such gestures, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

Goudhurst is a pretty village that sits proudly in the Kentish Weald Area of Natural Beauty, about 12 miles south of Maidstone. The village is absurdly picturesque and is home to over 200 listed buildings within the village, including the stunning timber-framed inn, standing beside the 12th century church and the traditional oast houses looking over the villages duck pond. The historic high street is home to lots of small independent shops and cafes and aesthetically has changed very little over the centuries, featuring a lovely collection of historic buildings, many of them in the traditional Kentish weatherboard style.

Very comfortably furnished and extremely well equipped. Excellent location for the village and all that is on offer in the surrounding area.

Goudhurst is a really pretty village. Rural Retreats describes it as having many independent shops and cafes- it hasn’t, it’s tiny! Great location for exploring Kent though. It’s a lovely cottage and superficially clean, however it could do with a good Spring clean, dusty skirtings, etc. The garden is in need of a tidy, kitchen utensils etc are in need of replacing, the oven needs a clean too.

This is our fourth stay because it is perfect for us to use it as a lovely retreat not to far from home . It has all the comforts one needs to just relax and chill out away from busy lives and recharge batteries. Highly recommend.
