What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mrs McMaster - Verified booking

Main bedroom There was extensive mildewing in the en-suite wet room, the mat in the shower was disgusting on the underside and a strong smell of damp overall in that room. The bed in the main bedroom was broken and the metal bar holding it together just lying on the floor. The mattress protector in that room was very badly stained. Lounge There were stains on the blue sofa in the lounge. The windows were filthy as was the interior of the front door. Shower-rooms There was no bath in the property as was stated on the description. One of our guests had a stained towel. All the bathrooms had limescale on the taps giving the impression that they were unhygienic. None of the showers had mats to step out on to - every bathroom just had a hand towel. Kitchen The oven was very dirty, and we chose not to use it for that reason, it had dirty oven racks and trays. There were no tea towels in the kitchen, and we had been left only one dishwasher tablet for the 3 day stay. As a minimum we would have expected salt and pepper but there were just some left over sachets of pepper from a previous guest. A pint of milk for arrival would have been a nice touch. Generally Unfortunately, the property was very dirty. All the floors had not been swept or vacuumed and they certainly hadn't been washed in some time and the property needed dusting.

I booked Herbert Road for a Christmas trip from Xmas eve til the day after Boxing Day. I didn’t appreciate that after I booked and paid on air bnb that I was redirected to a company called Host & Stay who asked for a £250 deposit or to pay £25 to waiver the damage deposit. I paid and thought that would be the end of the problems. I was wrong. We arrived and house itself is clean and adequately equipped however the downstairs smells strongly of sewage. Although this wasn’t a huge issue it was quite horrible. The next morning (Xmas day) we realised there was no hot water or heating, the boiler was broken and was flashing an error code. I contacted Host and Stay immediately and they said they would try to get someone out. Well to cut a long story short they didn’t get it fixed, the landlord even sent them instructions to send us to try to fix the boiler ourselves. Long story short, they didn’t fix it and we had no hot water or heating for our trip. Now they won’t even refund us!!!!

The location was good. The bathroom and the double bedroom were clean and comfortable. The lounge area was large, with comfortable seating. The outside of the property was very scruffy, as was the back courtyard area, with pots full of dead plants. The kitchen was poorly equipped with not one teaspoon to be found, and no knife block or any sharp knives. There was only one teatowel, and no hand towel, despite there being handwash in the kitchen, Although superficially clean, we found a chocolate sweet and 2 old dog toys under the Television table. The drawers in the dining area were full of useless items, such as a drawer full of loose change, and scraps of paper with telephone numbers on them. There were 2 empty packets of batteries, so we had to go out first thing, and buy a pack of batteries for the TV remote control. There was a wall hanging of 2023 tides - particularly useless, as we are now in April 2024! There seemed to be no 'attention to detail' whatsoever.

It's a studio place and was clean, modern and spacious. The bed was very comfortable. Everything we needed was provided. Good coffee machine. The host was very good at communicating with us and answering the questions we had. The location is great because it's right near the beach and all the shops and restaurants are literally right downstairs. The downside to that though is that on one of the nights we stayed it was very noisy from the bar outside and we couldn't sleep until it closed at about 1AM. It was Easter though so maybe it's not always like that, it certainly wasn't the night before (we stayed two nights). Must also mention the accessibility, there are a few flights of stairs to climb, didn't bother us at all but would be an issue for anyone with a disability or a very young child who needs carrying or a buggy to carry up. Nowhere to park but it's about a ten minute walk away to find free parking. Have to check out by 10.00 AM.

Location good. Comfortable beds. Well equipped. Back door wouldn’t lock, someone had bent the lock in the frame. Host and stay -property management, were very helpful, but we were disappointed to learn it was a known problem that hadn’t been fixed. It was fixed 2 days in to our stay. Kitchen and bathroom were cleaned well but felt like other areas were barely cleaned, mostly in the lounge area. Found litter behind and under furniture. Parking was free, but no guarantee you would be able to park near the property after 5pm.

The horseshoe-shaped Viking Bay Beach is the main attraction in Broadstairs, Kent due to its long sandy bay, cliff-top promenade, and boardwalk. Visitors can hire deck chairs and beach huts and the more active can enrol in the Surf School between March-October to try a range of water sports.

    Margate Beach

The traditional seaside town serves as a backdrop, with the world-class Turner Contemporary Gallery situated just a stone's throw away.
