Lodesman Cottage in Broadstairs is highly praised for its cleanliness, superb location, and the helpfulness of the housekeeper, Louise. Guests appreciate the well-equipped property, its proximity to the beach, and the peacefulness within the lighthouse grounds. Some concerns about heating and the accuracy of the sea view description were noted, but overall experiences were very positive, with many guests returning and planning future stays.
The majority of guests found the cottage to be very clean, with several reviews highlighting its spotless condition. There were a few isolated comments about cleanliness that could be improved, but these were not the norm.
The location is consistently praised for being close to the beach and Broadstairs town, offering a quiet and peaceful setting with easy access to local attractions. The unique setting within lighthouse grounds adds to the charm.
Guests find the cottage cosy and comfortable, with a few remarks about the warmth in the kitchen and bathroom during colder months. The comfort of the living areas is well-regarded, contributing to many enjoyable stays.
Facilities are generally well-received, with the property being well-equipped. However, some guests mentioned issues with heating and the need for better maintenance of certain amenities. The presence of a welcome pack is noted positively.
While guests mention welcome packs and the helpfulness of the housekeeper, there is not enough information to assess the consistency or guarantee of such thoughtful gestures. Therefore, the score is set to null.
On the North Foreland Lighthouse site above Broadstairs, this delightful cottage features entrance hall, fully fitted kitchen, sitting room, dining room, bathroom and two double bedrooms.
In association with Trinity House, Rural Retreats is pleased to present Lodesman Cottage at North Foreland Lighthouse.
Lodesman Cottage is one of two holiday cottages available at the lighthouse, which lies on the chalk headland above the charming and unspoilt seaside town of Broadstairs at the far eastern tip of Kent. Both cottages are very child friendly, surrounded by spacious lawned grounds and set well away from cliffs. The holiday cottages have shared use of a very large, one-acre lawned garden and patio with ample space to sit out.
The earliest reference to a light on North Foreland was given in a deed dated 1499 and, at that time, it was almost certain that the beacon was used to warn of attack or piracy rather than as an aid to navigation. The lighthouse does not have a fog signal.

A great cottage in a lovely location. Only thing that let it down was the kitchen and bathroom were so cold as the back door and windows let lots of cold air in. We expected this though as it was an old building. We would visit again but maybe in the summer. Other than the kitchen and bathroom, the rest of the house was lovely and cosy/warm. Spotlessly clean too!

The Cottage is well appointed and maintained by Louise. Its clean and has some basic provisions. Its a great base to explore the coastline or other attractions in the area. Broadstairs has some great cafes and restaurants. Its a quiet and peaceful area where you can just relax. I wish it had a car charger for electric vehicles.
