Guests say

Mae's Lodge in Birchington is highly praised for its excellent location near the beach, quiet residential setting, and secure garden ideal for dogs. Guests consistently mention the comfortable beds, well-equipped kitchen, and high standard of cleanliness. The property is spacious and well-furnished, with thoughtful touches such as quality linens and, on occasion, welcome baskets. Minor issues include occasional communication difficulties, minor maintenance needs, and some accessibility challenges for those with mobility issues. Overall, guests express a strong desire to return and recommend the property to others.

Multiple reviews highlight the property as spotlessly clean, with high-quality linens and towels. Only one review mentions a minor issue with empty hand soap and washing-up liquid, but this did not detract from the overall impression.

The location is repeatedly described as excellent, being just a short walk from the beach, shops, and cafes, yet set in a peaceful residential area. The proximity to the train line is noted but not seen as a disturbance.

Guests frequently mention comfortable beds and sofas, spacious rooms, and a relaxing atmosphere. One review notes that low seating and steps may be challenging for those with mobility issues, but overall comfort is highly rated.

The property is well-equipped with kitchen essentials, garden furniture, and secure outdoor space. Some minor suggestions include more cutlery, clearer bin instructions, and small maintenance needs, but these are outweighed by positive feedback.

Several guests mention receiving a welcome basket with treats, and all note thoughtful touches such as quality linens. Please note that gifts such as welcome baskets are not guaranteed for every stay.

This was our second stay at Mae's cottage and another lovely break. The house is lovely, in a fantastic location and well kitted out. The garden is also a really good size and nice and secure for our pooch to have a wander. We love the trains being so close to the back garden and although you do hear them inside we didn't find they disturbed us as they're not frequent and at night the sound is more like a van going past in the road.Communication to get the key code was absolutely fine so not an issue for us.The only suggestions I would have would be there wasn't hand soap with all the sinks and a virtually empty washing up liquid bottle but obviously we picked both of those up the next day but it would have been a nice touch to have had those available. Also as others have mentioned to have a label on the bins and the bin calendar would help guests support the owners to put the bins out. I looked up the schedule on the local council website but wasn't actually too sure which items went in which bins as the colours are different to those we have in our area. We figured it out, but a label on the bin to confirm what goes in which bins and the collection schedule just somewhere visible would really help. But those are tiny gripes and I would absolutely recommend this property and we will definitely return again 😊

Nice bungalow and ideal location. I had issues with steps into the hall and into the garden which I couldn’t get into as they were too high. The shower cubical could have had somewhere to put toiletries, I think over all it was a nice place to stay but with anyone with mobility issues could struggle. All the seating was quite low but again that was difficult for me. I’m glad we enjoyed our stay and would recommend the bungalow as a lovely holiday destination and would love to have stayed again but with my issues found it a bit difficult.

I have enjoyed the holiday bungalow for the last two years. Will hope to enjoy the bungalow again in 2027.The new holiday agent company used last year was a good move.
