What our customers say about their holidays

    • Lucy - Verified booking

We had a roof over our head and a flushing toilet The property was damp and smelled damp. Bedding and towels and toilet paper were damp and clothes were too by the time we left. There was 1/3 of a loo roll and no hand soap in the bathroom and no spares. There was no hot water or heating when we arrived and the door to access the property was round the back (not using the front door) so we had difficulty accessing with a pram. We rang the emergency contact line twice and were sent to voicemail. Someone only got back to us at 0230am with a text asking if we got in ok. 5.5hrs later! No one contacted us about the hot water or heating until the morning when I again emailed. We were promised a maintenance engineer that didn’t show up. The stairs were very steep and back access narrow and gravelly, not suitable for a newborn and whilst advertised as being a short walk to high street and beach nothing was mentioned about the very steep hill and stairs which were difficult to navigate with a pram. The kitchen utensils, table and cutlery were not clean either. The instructions did not detail information about the boiler which was switched off and the plug was in another room which we found by chance the next day so we managed to have hot water on the second day. The waste instructions said to use a blue bin for recycling ( wasn’t one) and to use the bins outside for general waste (very unclear which bin) and the access instructions had a picture of the front door with no information about the keys being for the back door accessed by a shared gate between the properties. All in all a pretty shocking stay and we felt we’d have had a more comfortable experience paying £25 for a campsite pitch rather than £400 for this which was an option for the festival we were going to. So disappointed and feeling ripped off.

      WOW

There’s plenty of WOW factor to be enjoyed at The Breakers. The house is beautiful and if you love uninterrupted views of the sea, as we do, this is the place to be. It felt at times like being on a luxury yacht without the sea sickness! The delightful owners could not have been more welcoming, supplying us with a cot and high chair for our one year old grandson and a brand new bed and yummy treats for our dog. They then visited to show us how everything works in their exceptionally well appointed house and give us a comprehensive guide of things to do and places to eat in Folkstone - just a ten minute drive or half an hour stroll along the beach front- and surrounding area. We had a wonderful sense of quiet and privacy at The Breakers as the shingle beach directly outside the house remained relatively underpopulated even on hot, sunny days. There’s a sandy beach only ten minutes walk away so we felt we had the best of both worlds. We only used one of the two small kitchens in the house as we wanted to all eat together as a family. It was a bit of a challenge at times cooking for 6 and a toddler in such a tight space, but we couldn’t have wanted for a lovelier setting to enjoy family time together. On cooler days there’s a roaring wood burning stove to snuggle up to on the sofa while watching Netflix movies! So it really is a year round holiday house. This is definitely a five star stay and we recommend it extremely highly.

      Absolutely amazing!

My husband, our dog, and I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful space and the surrounding area. As others have said, the space is exactly as advertised, if not better. The flat is immaculate, and the hosts were impressive in terms of responsiveness both in preparation for our arrival, upon our arrival, and in their availability to answer any questions during our stay. The hosts shared their combined knowledge and love of the area and local venues, which - as this was our first venture to this part of the UK - facilitated our enjoyment of some of the best the area has to offer, while also taking time to just relax in the sun on the terrace or on the beach directly in front of the property. I also have to give a shout-out to how 'dog friendly' this space is. The hosts welcome dogs wholeheartedly and enthusiastically. As an example, when we arrived, we found a dog bed and bowls for food and water for our four legged, in addition to some special treats just for her. Also, and as many dog owners will appreciate, the beach in front of the house is dog-friendly and it seemed that more people than not had their own pooch with them as they strolled or ran along the Coast Path that is situated between the property and the beachfront. We spent two weeks here and this place was exactly what we needed. Thank you!!
