    Holiday Cottages in Canterbury

Canterbury is a cathedral city featured in the Canterbury Tales, famous for being a medieval pilgrimage site. It's a great location for history-lovers and you'll find other great historical buildings such as St Augustine's Abbey. Even the small boutique shops and cosy cafes are in wooden-framed buildings along cobblestoned streets.

We select all our Canterbury holiday cottages for their charm and character. For large groups we have spacious barn conversions or farmhouses with open-plan living areas, ideal for families. We also have dog-friendly cottages with great walking routes right on your doorstep. For something more private, try our secluded cabins with private hot tubs and open fireplaces.

At Snaptrip, we list thousands of UK holiday cottages. Canterbury is a great destination for enjoying the city sights, but you'll also find plenty to do outside the city, such as Belmont Gardens and Blean Woods. All our holiday cottages are backed by our best price guarantee, and our friendly customer service team is always on standby to help. Use our handy search filters to find great holiday cottages in Canterbury.

The location was superb, could not fault it. The parking space was also a strong plus point. I would have awarded 5 stars as we felt the price we paid was good for a place in the location, however lower stars were because the property was a little tired and there were small things that could easily have been done to get the higher star rating. Communication with the host company was good. You are asked to turn the heating down as you leave but it could have been turned up when the cleaners left so that the place was warm on arrival. It was an extremely cold period when we visited. One radiator in the lounge was not working at all, host company informed. Small niggles: Hairdryer provided was great but only two mirrors both in bathrooms where there are (obviously) no power points to plug in, mirror in the bedroom would solve this. Oven could do with a deep clean although we ate out so did not use it. Talked to the host company about these and other niggles all could easily be rectified.

Gingerbread Cottage is simply amazing and one of the best cottages we have stayed in.

We arrived in the dark and the house was lit by some fairy lights on the front door and further Christmas decorations in the garden. We had a cosy feel about the cottage straight away. Inside we were greeted by a welcome hamper consisting of a home-made cake (plus hidden sixpence since we stayed over New Year's Eve), sparklers, a bottle of bubbly and a greeting card. I must say that I have rarely experienced so much attention to detail. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need, the bathrooms (one upstairs, one downstairs) each have a spacious and hot shower, the livingroom has cosy sofas around the fireplace with wonderful views into the garden. The bedrooms are just beautiful and the beds super comfy. The cottage is a 7-minute walk from Canterbury's city centre, but situated in a quiet residential street. I cannot praise the work and love Barbra puts into maintaining the highest standard of hospitality at Gingerbread Cottage highly enough. We can't wait to visit again.

The apartment is large. However, even before we arrived we had problems. Firstly, the managing company charges a non-refundable security deposit fee of £25. Upon arrival, we had a series of problems, which were reported immediately, without having any solution. The heating does not work on all radiators and is complicated to handle. But the worst of all was that the toilet in the main room did not work properly and neither did the shower in the individual room. In the end, the reality is that the flat has a just one full bathroom: the shower on the second floor and the toilet on the ground floor. We immediately contacted the administrators, who told us that they would come but they never arrived. The next day it was the same. This prevented us from enjoying the city, since we were left waiting for the bathrooms to be repaired. A disaster. In addition to that, the bathroom on the ground floor has stains and the sheets also had stains and hair.

One of the most loveliest cottages we’ve stayed in & we have been to loads!

Gingerbread Cottage stole our hearts from the moment we stepped through the door ❤️ Beautiful, even nicer in real life, from cosy corners where the log burner is to the other bright sitting area, beautiful bedrooms & great bathrooms, lovely garden area. Thank you Barbara for your lovely communication, it was such a pleasure from the time of booking to leaving the cottage. Thank you for such lovely goodies when we arrived, it makes such a difference after traveling so long to be able to pop the kettle on and having such lovely treats. Love the attention to detail & care, your guest’s are clearly important to you. If there was one wee thing, it would be a mirror in the master bedroom by the linen basket where there is a plug so I could do my hair etc rather than do it in the hallway where there is a mirror, it’s a small detail. Everything was fabulous

"Perfect" is the only way we can describe our 4 week stay at Gingerbread Cottage.

The layout of the cottage offered great lighting and comfortable space throughout with easy access to the garden via a large glass sliding door. The very modern kitchen was designed for flow and function. The cottage was immaculate, the rooms spacious, and the large walk-in shower was totally luxurious. Location to everywhere in Canterbury and only about a 15 minute walk to the supermarket and our favorite restaurants. Barbra is wonderful and a Super Host who made sure we had everything we needed including helpful instructions and suggestions which made our stay uncomplicated and most enjoyable. These superlatives just don't feel adequate in describing our experience. We plan to book at least 6 weeks next year and Gingerbread Cottage is one of the reasons we're coming back to Canterbury.
