Guests say

Gamekeeper's Cottage is a charming, cosy retreat set in a tranquil, private walled garden, ideal for couples seeking peace and relaxation. Guests consistently praise its beautiful surroundings, excellent location for exploring Kent, and the warm, helpful hosts. The cottage is well-equipped for short stays, with a comfortable bed and a delightful garden perfect for unwinding. While some mention minor issues with cleanliness, shower pressure, and storage, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, making it a highly recommended spot for a quiet getaway.

Most guests found the cottage clean and tidy, but several reviews mention areas needing attention, such as cobwebs, mould on window surrounds, and occasional pet hair. These issues appear to be exceptions rather than the rule, but suggest some inconsistency in cleaning standards.

The location is frequently highlighted as a major strength, with guests loving the peaceful, rural setting and proximity to Canterbury, the coast, and local attractions. The private walled garden and tranquil atmosphere are especially appreciated.

Guests describe the cottage as cosy, warm, and comfortable, particularly praising the bed and the quiet environment. The small size is noted, with some finding it a bit cramped for longer stays, but most found it perfect for a short break.

The cottage is well-equipped for two, with a good kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and a lovely garden. Some guests mention minor maintenance issues, such as weak shower pressure, lack of storage, and occasional need for updates, but overall facilities meet expectations for a short stay.

Several guests mention friendly, helpful hosts and thoughtful touches such as welcome treats, though these are not guaranteed for every stay. Communication is praised, and the hosts are responsive to guest needs.

Just spent a glorious week in this really fantastic summer location. The cottage is very pretty, clean and cosy with a very comfortable bed and excellent shower. It is small, but it was fine for us and we had all we needed. But the crowning glory is the fabulous walled garden. It's wonderfully peaceful, the birdsong is a delight and we could watch bats from the stable door. There aren't many big shops nearby, so best to stock up beforehand. There's no conventional oven, but microwave and hob were plenty for us.All in all, a great summer week and we look forward to going back.

This was the perfect holiday retreat - a small & cosy cottage in a large private garden space, comfortable inside and equipped with all I needed. It did exactly as set out in the online description and I loved my 4 nights here and will return to enjoy it again. The locality is lovely - set up a quiet farm lane through pear & apple orchards, and a level walk a mile or so through Staple to the high quality vineyard and the Black Pig pub in the hamlet of Barnsole. Interesting East Kent architecture and countryside, footpaths etc everywhere, with the wonderful Goodnestone Park Gardens and its café just a five minute drive away through quiet lanes, and the pretty village of Wingham with pubs and local store, and nearby Gibson's farm shop also not far away for a deli experience. It's not far from the bustling seaside town of Deal and slightly further afield Folkestone, both excellent destinations for a really good day out.To have Gamekeeper's Cottage as a uniquely placed base (in my case for visiting children and grandchildren in nearby Ash and Aylesham) was icing on a very good cake.Excellent directions and accurate pre-journey information from the friendly hosts completed the package. Some wi-fi and good mobile signal but why focus on that when everything about this cottage is tranquility and location.I loved it! Thank you for a very special break in such a fabulous spot.
