The location is highly appreciated for its countryside charm, proximity to Canterbury, and local amenities. Some guests noted it was a bit tricky to find, but this does not detract significantly from the overall positive feedback.

The comfort of the Shepherds Hut is frequently celebrated, with guests finding the bed comfortable and the hut cosy, especially with the wood burning stove.

On return, you can sit outside of an evening and soak up what's left of the summer sunshine and when it gets cooler, light the log burner and get all cosy under a blanket and the starry night sky, there is also an electric wall heater. You also have a woodburning stove within the shepherd's hut to take the chill off before you get into bed. The village of Kingston, just moments away is home to The Black Robin pub, while Barham village has The Duke of Cumberland, each accessible on foot. This is also a good area for cycling and the nearby city of Canterbury has many tourist attractions to grab your attention, including the oldest cathedral in England. You can take a boat trip out on the River Stour and drink in the wonderful, scenic views and ancient history or perhaps you might want to explore one of the many walking trails in the city. It was very cosy once we lit the log burner. There was everything we needed and a very comfortable bed. The outside area was secure for our escape artist terrier so we didn't worry about letting him out on his own. The surrounding area is great for walking. We walked to The Mermaid pub but they don't do food on Mondays so we walked on to The Black Robin. Our lunch there was excellent. Considering Marley is only 7 miles from Canterbury the roads are very quiet. Thank you Lucy and Steve - we would love to return, perhaps in Spring or Autumn.

There were great local walls that we enjoyed with our dog. The hut was so snug and comfortable with everything we needed.

The Hut itself is a beautiful thing. I was able to cook easily and one can make the space quite toasty of a chilly evening if you so wish. Its on a very pretty farm; I enjoyed seeing Velvet the pig in the morning from the bathroom window and loved the horse who would often approach the enclosure out of carefree curiosity. The Hut door faces the sunrise. As I was there to meditate and relax, I was delighted to discover the open to public spiritual gardens and yurt of "The Quiet View" only two minutes up the road (give it a google). I really enjoyed the country lane and woodland walks the surrounding area had to offer. I was surprised how quiet and left to my own devices I could get as its only 7 miles from a city. I popped into Canterbury for the Cathedral (and Tesco) and it was only 20 mins on the bus with a £2 card tap. That said, a breezy walk into next village Barham has quite a nice shop and Bishopsbourne the other way had a nice pub and cafe. About 150m up the road from the Hut was a blue plaque for the Sculptor Henry Moore who lived there in the 30s (for any fellow nosy art nerds out there!). A really gorgeous stay, I shall return.
