Guests say

Southview Cottage offers a peaceful rural retreat with a spacious, secure garden ideal for dogs and families. Guests appreciate its quiet location, proximity to local attractions, and well-equipped kitchen. The cottage is comfortable and homely, with several positive mentions of the local pub and thoughtful touches. Some guests noted areas for improvement, particularly regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and bathroom facilities, but overall, the property provides good value and a relaxing base for exploring the Isle of Wight.

Cleanliness received mixed feedback. While some guests found the cottage clean and tidy, others reported dust, cobwebs, and a general sense of being careworn or in need of a deeper clean. A few mentioned stale smells and dated linens, though these did not prevent most from enjoying their stay.

The location is highly praised for its tranquillity, rural charm, and convenience for exploring the Isle of Wight. Guests enjoyed the quiet setting, nearby walks, and easy access to local attractions and amenities.

Guests generally found the cottage comfortable, with positive comments on the beds, homely atmosphere, and secure garden for dogs. Some noted issues with old mattresses, lack of bathroom heating, and dated furnishings, but these did not significantly detract from the overall comfort for most visitors.

The cottage is well equipped with kitchen essentials and a helpful information folder. However, some guests mentioned missing items (such as an iron or mop), basic bathroom facilities, and occasional issues with Wi-Fi and TV. The garden and outdoor space were consistently praised.

Several guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as welcome packs with dog treats and wine, though these are not guaranteed. The information folder and local recommendations were also valued by visitors.

We really enjoyed our stay. Wi-fi not working so no TV but not too concerned about that. Quite a few cobwebs that I can understand as cottage is in amongst farmland but quite dusty in rooms and not up to standard of other cottages I’ve stayed with Hoseasons as it didn’t feel freshly cleaned. So I cleaned myself and after felt happy to stay. So, nothing too major and we did enjoy our stay
