Bridgecourt Manor Cottage is in the grounds of an old manor house in beautiful East Wight countryside, near the picturesque village of Godshill. The Manor House is surrounded by fragrant gardens which the cottage overlooks, along with a large duck pond. This is a wonderful walking area and visitors can follow footpaths immediately from the cottage to the nearby picturesque village of Godshill, or follow the course of the River Yar which meanders to the south coast of the island. Other footpaths lead on to the nearby downs. The sandy beaches of Shanklin and Sandown are within a ten-minute drive, as is the market town of Newport and the medieval castle of Carisbrooke.
Bridgecourt Manor Cottage is a stone cottage converted from an ancient forge which dates back to the 1600s. It provides attractive and comfortable accommodation for five people in three bedrooms. The cottage has been furnished and equipped in a traditional style with antique furniture and is centrally heated. On the ground floor there is a large open plan sitting room furnished with sofas, a television with Freeview and a DVD player, and a pleasant dining area. There is a fitted kitchen equipped with an electric cooker, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, washing machine and a small breakfast area. A tumble dryer is also provided. There is access to a small single bedroom via the kitchen. This bedroom has a compact en-suite bathroom with a bath, basin and WC. Upstairs, there are two additional bedrooms; one double and one twin room, both with en-suite shower rooms with WC.s and basins. Heating and electricity are provided without extra charge. A folding bed, travel cot and high chair can be made available if required.
There is a pretty fenced garden at the front of the cottage, with a lawn and a secluded patio housing garden furniture and an umbrella so that meals can be enjoyed in the sunshine. Visitors have access to the lake in the grounds of Bridgecourt Manor which is home to a variety of ducks. Three cars can be parked immediately outside the cottage garden. Visitors can walk into the village of Godshill in ten minutes and here there is a village shop, restaurant, tea shops and two public houses, plus a regular bus service to Shanklin and Newport.
