Around and About
The picturesque village of Brighstone is situated to the south west of the Isle of Wight and is well known for its pretty terrace of chalk cottages, all with neatly trimmed thatched roofs. Served by a local shop, post office, tea-room and a pub, the village has everything a visitor could possibly need during their stay. The local museum provides a fascinating insight into the town's heritage and tells the story of when smuggling was once a flourishing occupation. The sea itself is less than a mile away, and with beaches at Brighstone and Compton Bays, the region is full of water sport opportunities whilst the nearby coastal path provides access to the scenic cliff-top gardens at Blackgang Chine.
The Isle of Wight, with its beaches, unspoiled scenery, rich heritage and over 500 miles of award-winning public footpaths is a walker's paradise, or if sailing is your thing, the renowned annual Cowes Week is not to be missed.
