About this property

Set in a peaceful location alongside the River Dever, these charming cottages are surrounded by lavender fields and beautiful countryside that is perfect for all manner of outdoor pursuits. The village of Barton Stacey is just 1.5 miles away, perfect for picking up celebratory supplies at the farm shop or going for a nightcap at the pub. The historic city of Winchester is only 19 miles away and offers a great selection of shops, cafes and restaurants, ideal for a relaxed day spent browsing. Should you be able to tear yourself away from the tranquillity of the cottages and their expansive outdoor spaces, you will find many attractions such as Stonehenge, Salisbury and Amesbury are easily accessible (all 26 miles). Alternatively, why not have a go at fly fishing in the nearby trout fishery (2.5 miles) or immerse yourself in the countryside and enjoy one of the many local walks? The first property, a beautiful, thatched character cottage sleeping eight guests, is tucked up a quiet no through lane and is reached via a winding path that brings you to the garden. Enter into the spacious hallway which houses a piano and wood burner, as well as a handy WC, and head through to the lounge with its open fire and characterful features. To the right of the hallway is a bright and airy study with dual aspect windows, comfortable window seats and a sofa bed. Next, step into the stunning open plan conservatory/diner where there is a large table, perfect for enjoying leisurely meals whilst you overlook the garden. These meals can be prepared in the charming country kitchen which is equipped with all the mod cons needed to create feasts for all the guests. Finishing this floor is a utility room with white goods, and a cosy snug with a TV and wood burner. From the dining hall, head up the first set of steep cottage style stairs to a super king size bedroom with its own en suite bathroom. A second winding staircase, rising from the entrance hall, leads to a welcoming twin bedroom (restricted head height in places) and a separate shower room with a shower and WC. A step down from the second staircase landing brings you into a delightful double bedroom, and a third flight of steep and narrow stairs leads from the dining hall to a further twin bedroom with an en suite bathroom (please note this is interlinked with the previous double bedroom with a half sized door). The second property, located at the end of the long garden from the thatched cottage, sleeps an additional four guests and immediately welcomes you into its spacious, high ceiled living room. In here, you ll find a gorgeous wood burner, a Smart TV and ample comfortable seating looking out through the floor to ceiling apex windows. Through the living room, you ll find the bijou country kitchen with bi fold doors to the swimming pool area. Heading back through the property but staying on this floor, there s the main bathroom a bright and inviting double bedroom, the perfect space to rest and recharge after an evening by the poolside. Completing this stunning country property is a cosy twin room that you will find up the steep, spiral, open riser stairs on the mezzanine level. Heading outside the first property, the expansive enclosed cottage garden offers a choice of seating areas, pretty borders and rolling lawns. To the front of the property is the River Dever, which is accessed just across the lane, and care should be taken with children when outside of the enclosed garden. For the younger members of the family, there is a swing and slide and level lawns ideal for ball games. Outside the second property, there is a private garden area with ample seating under cover and overlooking the lovely gardens. Round the side of the property, there is a heated outdoor pool (available April October) with a WC and shower along with a BBQ and plenty of seating, perfect for al fresco dining and lounging in the summer sunshine.
