Romsey also has an independent department store, supermarket and a magnificent Norman Abbey dating back to 907AD. Just outside the town and set in extensive parkland is the 18th century mansion of Broadlands, the former home of Lord Palmerston and the late Lord Louis Mountbatten. Broadlands is open to the public July and August, as well as hosting a range of shows, concerts and events throughout the year. Other places to visit within an hours drive include Hillier’s Arboretum, Stonehenge, Wheyhill Hawk Conservancy, The Army Flying Museum, Thruxton Races, Wilton House, Highclere Castle, The New Forest, Beaulieu Abbey and Motor Museum, Marwell Zoo, Portsmouth Dockyard and the beautiful beaches of the South Coast including Bournemouth, Boscombe and Mudeford. "Fantastic holiday cottage. We had a brilliant 10 days there and would 100% recommend. Very happy and such a lovely village. Great facilities and loved the hot tub! In any weather! Plenty of things to do, glad we had our car. But very happy with every detail."

"Fantastic stay here. Owners where welcoming, friendly and helpful. The cottage was great, had more then we required and all at a very high quality and standard. We enjoyed coming back after our days out to the hot tub with a glass (plastic) of bubbly. The location was great for us. Would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a quiet break away."

    Lorraine ‐ 21 Sep 2019
"Really nice place. The pictures are taken from different angles. The back garden where the hot tub is, is tiny not like pictures."
    Nick ‐ 29 Aug 2019

"A thoroughly enjoyable week. The owners have gone to great lengths to provide what is needed and at a high spec. Hot tub was great. Very nice after a day’s walking. Welcome pack of eggs, milk, wine, jams and shortbread biscuits was very well received. Will definitely be coming again."

"Our holiday at the old meeting hall was fantastic. Everything you could wish for is there already and nothing is to much trouble for Sharon and Wayne. The greetings package of wine, eggs, milk etc are an excellent bonus. We will definitely be going back next year."

    "A well equipped cosy cottage."
    Jan ‐ 10 Jun 2019
"We had a great stay. Sharon and Wayne were very welcoming. The decor was lovely and the equipment good quality. The village was delightful. The cottage is in a great location with lots of things to see and do within a short distance. We very much appreciated the pint of milk in the fridge on arrival so we could have a cuppa before heading to the supermarket and the complimentary bottle of wine was even more appreciated! We loved the hot tub and we will be telling our friends about the Old Meeting Hall. Thanks."

"We had a delightful few days in Kings Somborne. The area is lovely and perfect for our needs. The accomodation is great and all the little touches really topped it off (minature conserves, red wine, robes/slippers etc.). The hot tub is great, a lovely size and well kept. Had a strange tendency to produce quite the number of bubbles but turning the jets down a little helped!"
    Deborah ‐ 15 Apr 2019
"Lovely well equipped accomodation in a small village. Lovely local pub and a couple of shops that sell virtually everything that you need. Ideal for walking but not good for public transport. Ideal as a quiet getaway."
    Elsa ‐ 20 Feb 2019
"We had a lovely stay at the Old Meeting Hall. The place was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed for a nice weekend break. The bed was very comfortable, and the spa pool was really luxurious. We enjoyed some nice country walks in the local area and were a short drive to amenities like supermarkets and some lovely pubs (there's also one in the Village). Sharon was really easy to communicate with and very accommodating. Overall, a great weekend."
    Tracey ‐ 16 Jan 2019
"Very nice little cottage, smaller than others we have rented on this site. Very well kitted out and clean. I felt it lacked privacy a bit as you are sharing the site with the owner. Would visit again as the location is excellent."
    Emma ‐ 6 Jan 2019
"This is a great little cottage in a brilliant location, it has just the right amount of things to make your stay comfortable. The hot tub is amazing. It’s close to Winchester but transport links are not that great so driving is important. The crown is good for pub dinners."
    Jill ‐ 2 Jan 2019
"Excellent place to stay for a christmas break. Hot tub and wood burning stove a delight. Christmas decorations lovely and welcome pack very generous."
    CAROLE ‐ 12 Dec 2018
"We had a lovely long weekend break at the Old Meeting Hall and were made very welcome on our arrival. A good location to explore the Test area with lovely walks from the doorstep. The cottage is very comfortable and warm. Everything you need is in place including a nice welcome pack. The local pub is within easy walking distance and is dog friendly even in the restaurant. WE did't need the shops but there is a little shop within 100 yards or so of the cottage and they will even deliver groceries to you for your arrival. Ample off road parking and quiet. The hot tub is a bonus and is very secluded. There are even little ducks to play with. WE would definitely book this cottage again."
