    About this property

After a day out exploring the glorious Hampshire countryside, return to The Old Meeting Hall and relax in your own private hot tub.
Set within the pretty village of King’s Somborne, The Old Meeting Hall is an attractive, single-storey property sitting next door to the owners pretty thatch cottage. It has been converted to a very high standard, offering stylish and comfortable accommodation in the heart of Hampshire’s glorious countryside. The private hot tub stands within the enclosed courtyard garden and is the perfect way to relax and unwind after a day out exploring this beautiful area. Or, why not relax infront of the cosy wood burner, ideal at anytime of the year. A pub serving delicious food and local shops are a few minutes’ walk away.

For keen walkers and cyclists, the Test Way and the Clarendon Way are almost on the doorstop. For the fishing enthusiasts, the River Test is the pre-eminent chalk stream and has exceptional clarity of water which is prized by fly fishers the world over. Physically, it is the longest, 39 miles
from source to estuary. Historically, it is generally regarded as the birthplace of modern fly fishing. This area is also where the yesteryear TV programme ‘Wurzle Gummidge’ was filmed.

The Meeting Hall offers immaculately presented, light and airy open plan living/dining/kitchen area, tastefully decorated and furnished with relaxing tones, practical tiled flooring and high ceilings. The double bedroom has a lovely wrought iron bed and trendy en-suite digital shower room. The sound of gentle flowing water can be heard alongside, which runs through the owners pretty gardens at certain times of the year. This lovely holiday home is an ideal country escape and the perfect place to explore the historic cities of Winchester, 9 miles, Salisbury, 18 miles, and the maritime city of Southampton, 16 miles.

The nearest town is Stockbridge, 3 miles, with its abundance of independent specialist shops including tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, many serving local produce, as well as art galleries, craft and gift shops, clothing and traditional butchers. The prosperous market town of Romsey is 7 miles, and being the larger of the two towns, it has all of the above and more. Romsey also has an independent department store, supermarket and a magnificent Norman Abbey dating back to 907AD. Just outside the town and set in extensive parkland is the 18th century mansion of Broadlands, the former home of Lord Palmerston and the late Lord Louis Mountbatten. Broadlands is open to the public July and August, as well as hosting a range of shows, concerts and events throughout the year. Other places to visit within an hours drive include Hillier’s Arboretum, Stonehenge, Wheyhill Hawk Conservancy, The Army Flying Museum, Thruxton Races, Wilton House, Highclere Castle, The New Forest, Beaulieu Abbey and Motor Museum, Marwell Zoo, Portsmouth Dockyard and the beautiful beaches of the South Coast including Bournemouth, Boscombe and Mudeford. Shop 200 yards, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

    CAROLE ‐ 12 Dec 2018
"We had a lovely long weekend break at the Old Meeting Hall and were made very welcome on our arrival. A good location to explore the Test area with lovely walks from the doorstep. The cottage is very comfortable and warm. Everything you need is in place including a nice welcome pack. The local pub is within easy walking distance and is dog friendly even in the restaurant. WE did't need the shops but there is a little shop within 100 yards or so of the cottage and they will even deliver groceries to you for your arrival. Ample off road parking and quiet. The hot tub is a bonus and is very secluded. There are even little ducks to play with. WE would definitely book this cottage again."

"Absolutely wonderful weekend away at the old meeting hall. Facilities are extensive and modern but the cottage has a really rustic and cosy feel. The hot tub is a wonderful added extra"

"We had a super week. The cottage has everything you need to enhance your stay. Excellent facilities. An efficient heating system, modern tv with Amazon firestick (if you are into these things) The cottage was situated in an excellent situation close to all village amenities and a welcoming ,traditional dog friendly pub in easy walking distance. There are scenic walks which you can follow by the picturesque River Test. Ample off road walking for dogs in green fields. An added bonus was the hot tub ,which we used every day."

"The accommodation is 5* plus with so many little extras and you are made so welcome by the hosts - set in a beautiful village would highly recommend"
    Wendy ‐ 8 Jul 2018
"Excellent, stylish cottage in a lovely, rural location. Limited amenities within walking distance but plenty of great places to visit within a short drive. The owners were available if needed, otherwise the cottage felt very private and had everything you would need for a very relaxing holiday."

"This was by far the best cottage we've stayed in so fresh and comfortable the hot tub was wonderful and the extra touches much appreciated, the owners were very nice and welcoming we would loved to go back in the future"
    Lisa ‐ 3 May 2018
"The Old Meeting Hall is finished to a very high standard and everything you could need has been supplied. The owners are extremely nice people for whom nothing is too much trouble. Although the owners live next door they respected our privacy and left us to enjoy our break, but were easily contactable if we had any queries. The location is beautiful, peaceful and typical English Countryside with quaint villages & Thatched Cottages. The local pub, The Crown Inn is only a 5 minutes walk away and they offer good food to eat in or takeaway. A truly wonderful place to escape to the country, I would highly recommend this property and will be returning as soon as they have availability."

"The cottage did not seem cosy . we think that this is due to the tiled floors. The hot tub was great."
