There is direct access to a footpath along The Solent Way which stretches all the way to Gosport, with scenic views over the River Hamble and where many birds and other wildlife can be spotted. There are local traditional inns nearby, the nearest is about 55 yards away, or a little further discover the pub featured in Howards Way, the popular TV series of yesteryear, just a ½-mile walk away.
Inside, this super cottage boasts some historic features: the handrail for the stairs originates from The Gypsy Moth, a famous historic yacht that circumnavigated the globe. Other features include beams, part exposed brick/flint walls, wooden floors and a wood-burning stove. Outside, the enclosed lawned garden has a flower border and two levels of decking with furniture. There is also a hot tub which can be enjoyed all year round by guests, and two kayaks available to be launched from the public slipway free of charge. For those with boats, mooring can be arranged with nearby marinas, and fishing trips can also be organised upon request.

Also Winchester, Chichester or Salisbury with their cathedrals, excellent walking in the New Forest, Beaulieu Motor Museum, South Downs National Park, and the seaside resorts of Poole or Bournemouth are all within easy driving distance. "This was amazing weekend away for my birthday"

"Baytree Cottage is located on the outskirts of Southampton and ideal for visiting both Portsmouth and Southampton attractions. The cottage is close to the river Hamble and within easy access of the A27.The cottage is well equipped with a large kitchen, dining room, bathroom and living room downstairs. Access to the first floor is via a set of very narrow curving stairs. There are two large bedrooms, one leading off the other. Both bedrooms have comfortable beds.At the rear of the property is a small decked garden with a large hot tub and various shrubs. The only negative, as mentioned in other reviews, is consideration should be given to the bathroom being located downstairs at the rear of the property which may be a problem if frequent night time visits are required via the narrow stairs."

"The cottage is almost perfect, it is kitted out with pretty much everything you could and should need and it's good quality as well. The hot-tub is a blessing, the house is comfortable and the kitchen is excellent (if you're planning on self-catering).The bathroom is good, but it is downstairs which if you're at that stage of life where you need a middle of the night visit to the loo, you do need to consider. The only point that some might need to seriously consider are the stairs to the bedroom. They are exceptionally narrow, steep and windy and really not for someone with mobility issues. We coped but not without some trepidation (especially when bleary eyed in the middle of the night on one of our jaunts!).Aside from that, it is a really lovely place and well worth your consideration (oh, and a comment about the local pub which on the face of it seems just another boozer - but their food is properly home-cooked and was much better quality than we'd expected to get when looking at the menu - give it a chance!)"

"Lovely cottage! Beautifully furnished and the hot tub was great - nice and clean too. The welcome gift from the hosts was thoughtful and useful. One comment I would make is that it may be useful for other guests to be aware that the bedrooms are interlinking and the bathroom is downstairs!"

"Baytree cottage is a sweet house, the stairs are very narrow but not many of them. It would have been useful to have had a washing machine & some where to store food cupboard items like biscuits. Overall it was a really lovely location and very peaceful house. the neighbours were very helpful with the kayak."

"Great location for touring, we went to Portmouth, Southampton, Bournemouth and the Isle of Wight (by ferry) all within a short drive away.Great little cottage, full of character and charm. Hot tub is good quality and the well equipped kitchen along with the wood burning fire make it a great getaway!Excellent peaceful location with a nice range of pubs all within 5-10 minutes walk.Lovely owners too who were happy to help with anything you needed."

"Lovely holiday cottage we had a very relaxing week there. The log fire and hot tub were a great bonus. Easy to travel to all the local attractions and a lovely walk along the river just outside the cottage. We were sad to leave."
