    About this property

Maritime Portsmouth and Southampton are within easy reach of this comfortable cottage which lies in the village of Hamble, known for its sailing and yachting.
Offering a light and comfortable base from which to enjoy the wonderful sailing village of Hamble, Waverley Reach is the ideal, detached, holiday home for families, groups or couples. The cosy living room has a wood burner, and the well-equipped kitchen leads to a conservatory/dining room. Beyond that is a decked sitting-out area where you can eat al fresco in warm weather! It is only a 5-minute walk from the marina, which has a bistro, and about a 10-minute walk from the historic village square with its famous quay (where you can hop on the pink ferry to Warsash!), various inns, a tea room and a few shops.
The parish of Hamble has good rail links from its modest station to Southampton, London and Portsmouth. The village has played a significant role in the country’s aviation and maritime history, and there are few villages in Britain that can boast over the centuries to have had a priory, a Norman church and a castle. Today, Hamble is known as a sailing and yachting centre of excellence, and many people visit to enjoy the friendly community spirit and ambience. The property is an ideal base for those wishing to explore the area. There are popular destinations such as maritime Southampton and Portsmouth with historic ships, designer shopping, leisure facilities and ferries to the Isle of Wight; Winchester with its cathedral; Stonehenge; Paultons Park; Marwell Zoo with Peppa Pig World; excellent walking in the New Forest; Beaulieu Motor Museum; South Downs National Park, and the seaside resorts of Poole or Bournemouth, all of which are within easy driving distance. Another good excursion is to Netley Royal Victoria Park with its beaches and views of the Solent, or visit Manor Farm Country Park and Hampshire Strawberry Trail. Beach 1 mile. Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

"Good accommodation overall. Some crockery chipped, missing if all beds were occupied. Some cooking utensils not cleaned very well before our arrival."

"We had a wonderful stay at Waverley Reach when 8 of us, 3 generations, stayed for a celebratory birthday. The kids aged 2 1/2 up loved the garden which was totally safe for all and going crabbing on the beach by the super cafe near the Warsash Ferry (try the ginger and lemon oat bars or other delicious food served). We had an issue with the heating while we were there and Melissa and Dave did their utmost to sort it out asap, despite it being the May Day bank holiday weekend. 10 out of 10 for hospitality, even supplying us with logs for the wood burning fire just in case the boiler problem should return - which it didn’t! Everything is there to make the stay easier from high chairs, potties and children’s cutlery to toys, games, books, toiletries and basics like washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, salt, pepper and vinegar for the fish and chips (from the shop you pass when going into Hamble). There are lots of great walks to do locally and nice restaurants and pubs in Hamble. We would recommend The Bugle where we had our excellent Sunday lunch (need to book early!) and the Hamble Treasure hunt trail which you can buy online. Crabbing equipment can be bought from the shops in Hamble. Venturing further Southampton and Portsmouth are within easy reach as is the New Forest. We visited Exbury Gardens where the rhododendrons and azaleas were in full bloom, so beautiful. Great stay and much enjoyed by all!"

"A beautiful holiday house with so many well thought touches like blankets in the lounge for snuggling up. Brilliant seating and bedroom arrangements"
