About this property

The Old Great Barn is a stunning family home located in the idyllic village of Filkins, close to the bustling market town of Burford. The delightful Cotswold stone barn conversion combines traditional features with contemporary design and boasts spacious living areas and a wonderful garden, making it the perfect getaway for a gathering of friends or a family.

Park-up on the private driveway, with space for up to four cars, and marvel at the stunning property that stands before you, as you get ready to enter into your home-from-home abode.

Stunning glass doors open into the stylish, double-height entrance hall, with space for you to hang your coats and keep your shoes, before you meander into the beautiful kitchen to unload your shopping into the American-style fridge/freezer, and look forward to rustling up your evening meals using the double electric oven and five-ring electric hob, where you can prepare your meals on the lovely centre island and store your wine bottles in the smart rack that sits within it! The kitchen benefits from a Smart TV, so why not pop on some cooking programmes and get right into the spirit!

You will notice that all the rooms on the ground-floor benefit from warming underfloor heating, so you can be kept warm from head to toe on cold winter evenings!

The dining room is the perfect space for you to tuck into your wonderful home-cooked meals, providing space for eight people to comfortably sit around the wooden dining table, as well as two armchairs, overlooking the attractive garden through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

Adjacent to the dining room you will find a handy utility room home to a washing machine and a sink, handy for cleaning your dirty clothing after you’ve been out on a long walk in the countryside and cleaning off your dogs muddy paws in the sink!

Spend your evenings in the bright and spacious sitting room, where the eye-catching woodburning stove can keep you warm and toasty, as you relax on the corner sofa or three-seater sofa and watch a compelling film using the Sky Cinema package.

Escape with a good book for some peace and quiet into the lovely snug room as you relax into the two-seater sofa and rest your feet on the footstool.

Conveniently completing the ground-floor is a cloakroom with a basin and WC.

Upstairs, the lovely galleried landing leads onto four homely bedrooms; the master boasts high vaulted ceilings with exposed wooden beams, a smart dressing room, king-size bed and an elegant en-suite with a walk-in rain shower, the second bedroom offers lovely countryside views and offers space for a family to sleep, with a king-size bed and a single bed (suitable for age 12 and below only) and benefits from an en-suite shower room with a walk-in shower, the third bedroom is a gorgeous room with a double bed and the fourth is perfect for small children, with a fun feature wall that they will love, with twin beds and a large dressing room.

The well-proportioned family bathroom is a tranquil space for you to enjoy a well-earned soak amongst the bubbles in the freestanding bath, as well as containing a walk-in shower.

Outside, the enclosed garden is a wonderous setting to relax when the sun is shining, offering a space for alfresco dining, as well as a charcoal barbecue and a parasol.

Resting on the Gloucestershire/Oxfordshire border, you will be spoilt for choice with so much to see and do throughout your stay.

Spend your days exploring picturesque Cotswold villages or hiking through the scenic Pitham Brook walk and Cascades, and discover Cheese Wharf and the National Trust-owned Buscot Old Parsonage along the way.

Wander the grand halls of the lavish 17th-century dwelling of Blenheim Palace or step back in time at the imposing remains of Minster Lovell Hall and Dovecote, now a popular heritage museum.

Hike to Godstow Abbey and visit the remains of Oxford Castle & Prison, before a tour of La Maison Du Chateau and Pitt Rivers Museum, all of which can be found at the heart of Oxford city.

See the 15-species of alligator at Crocodiles of the World or lose yourself in the 160-acres of wildlife at the Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens, both found in Burford.

Delight in a fun-filled day out to Cirencester and see the Roman Amphitheatre, Corinium Museum and well-kept landscapes of Cirencester Park, or spend the day shopping in all your favourite stores at Bicester Village, a pleasant drive away.

If you’re looking for a wonderful country retreat for you and your loved ones, look no further than The Old Great Barn.
