For walkers there is plenty to do on the doorstep; Chailey windmill is a Grade II listed Smock Mill just 50 metres away, and from Mill Barn you can walk straight onto Red House Common, part of Chailey Common Local Nature Reserve. The common is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its heathland plants, insects and birds. If you want to reward your walk with some refreshments, within an hour’s stroll you can reach the Bull at Newick, The Sloop at Scaynes Hill and The Griffin Inn at Fletching. There is also an Indian restaurant at Newick if you feel like a night off from cooking.
