The cottage is luxuriously furnished throughout, in-keeping with the grand origins of the lovely farmhouse it adjoins, a perfect place for a romantic break for two. The cottage is all on one floor and, in part, was once the dairy to the main farmhouse. Stone flagged floors and high ceilings, complete with oak doors and rich furnishings add to the sumptuous feel of the cottage. The entrance hall leads to the spacious bedroom which exudes quality and style and is complemented by the lovely en-suite bathroom, complete with bath and wet room-style shower. The living space combines kitchen, dining and sitting areas effortlessly and is equipped with all you need for your stay. Sit outside on the private patio and embrace the peace and tranquillity, taking in the splendid views or watching the lambs playing in the surrounding fields. Coarse fishing is available at Walcot Lakes and the River Kemp runs through the owners’ private land where guests are welcome to fish free of charge. A 20 minute walk will take you to the village of Lydbury North with its popular pub, community village shop and timber framed village hall which has various entertainment events on offer. The former home of Clive of India, Walcot Hall, has extensive grounds which are open to the public at various times of the year and is easily accessible from the cottage. Fabulous walks and cycle rides take you through Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty with the Shropshire Way, Jack Mytton Way and Offa’s Dyke all close by. There are many opportunities for mountain biking and bird watching, make sure to keep an eye out for the rare red kites. Why not spend a day exploring the wilderness of the Stiperstones, steeped in folklore and with abundant bird life or drive across the top of the majestic Longmynd? Visit one of the many pretty towns and villages in this part of Shropshire, Bishop’s Castle, Church Stretton and Ludlow to name a few. Bishop’s Castle SpArC offers a variety of activities with a swimming pool, fitness classes and a theatre with events to suit all ages and interests. Explore the medieval county town of Shrewsbury, birthplace of Charles Darwin, and enjoy the interesting architecture, individual shops, bars and restaurants or relax on a boat ride on the River Severn. Ironbridge with its National Heritage museums, Acton Scott Working Farm museum and the National Trust properties of Attingham near Shrewsbury and Dudmaston near Bridgnorth are all well worth a visit. Close to the Welsh Marches and within easy reach of Herefordshire, there is much to keep you entertained.
