About this property

Holmbridge 1.2 miles. Tucked away in the rural village of Holme, amidst the scenery of the great West Yorkshire outdoors, rests this quaint adobe, 19 The Village. Boasting characterful touches throughout, families and friends will be drawn to this heart-warming escape, perfect for accessing the delights of the Peak District National Park. On entering the cottage, discover the rustic charm of the open-plan living space, complete with an alluring multi-fuel stove and Smart TV, inviting you to enjoy movie nights with your loved ones. The house chef can dominate the kitchen, fitted with an electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge and even dishwasher, so there’s plenty on-hand to assist with home-cooking. Settle down at the dining table to enjoy a feast, before whisking off to the bathroom to start your nightly routine. On the first floor awaits two bedrooms, a king-size and a single, whilst the second-floor bedroom is built into the eaves and offers a double. When you’re ready to explore, the charming village of Holme is filled with delicious eateries from friendly pubs to well-established restaurants, ideal for when you fancy a night away from the kitchen. This area is a hotspot for walkers, cyclists and wildlife lovers, with the Woodhead and Torside reservoirs nearby, as well as easy access to the Hope Valley via Woodhead Pass and Glossop. Visit the nearby town of Holmfirth, well-known for being the home to the characters of the TV series Last of the Summer Wine, of which you can tour the locations frequently visited throughout the show by vintage bus! Further afield, the scenery of the Peak District should not be missed, where you can enjoy a peaceful picnic and capture some beautiful photos. All this and much more can be enjoyed at 19 The Village.

Holmbridge, a small village in the Holme Valley, is just one mile from Holmfirth, a traditional Pennine market town. A church, a convenience store, a cricket club, and the village's own vineyard are all within a short distance of each other. Holme Moss, one of Britain's most difficult mountain climbs, is located in the immediate vicinity of the village. On the other side of the town of Holmfirth is the renowned Picturedrome venue, which is known for its old stone cottages and winding streets. All year long, the Holme Valley hosts a variety of festivals, including the Festival of Folk (May), the Arts Festival (June), the Food and Drink Festival (September), and a fantastic Music Festival (October). All of these events, as well as the smaller ones like the Yorkshire Film Festival, the Macmillan Art Exhibition, Christmas markets, the Scarecrow Festival and of course the big cycling race "Le Tour De Yorkshire," make this a particularly culturally rich region to visit. As the setting for the long-running comedy series Last of the Summer Wine, the town has become well-known. Skelthwaite, the fictional town from the Where the Heart Is series, is located in the Colne Valley, which is just a short drive away from the Peak District National Park. It is a great starting point from which to explore this fascinating and beautiful part of Yorkshire, which includes the city of Huddersfield as well as the bustling metropolises of Manchester, Leeds, and Sheffield.

The host's were great and made sure we had all the information we needed before our stay. Holme is a great place to stay and close to some lovely villages - Holmfirth was a favourite of ours. We are already planning another stay!

Comfy beds. Nice to use the wood burner. Nice to have a playground nearby for our daughter. Nice walks near the cottage.
