Around and About

This millstone grit village is surrounded on three sides by the beautiful Peak District National Park. Old Glossop can be reached along the Snake Pass, aptly named because of the way it winds past dramatic and exceptional scenery. Around the original market square, the village has houses dating back to the 17th and 18th Centuries and a splendid Norman Church, with, rumour has it, a haunted vicarage. Eastwards on the Snake Pass will take the holiday maker past the Ladybower and Derwent Reservoirs, where the famous Dambuster Squadron practised. Nearby Glossop provides a range of amenities and access to the spectacular Peak District with the towns of Buxton and Castleton in the Hope Valley within easy reach. A fabulous holiday destination for the whole family.

The ultimate in "year-round" appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.
