About this property

This charming mid-terrace barn conversion is located near to the delightful hamlet of Sparrowpit, in the lovely High Peak area of the Peak District. Situated on a working sheep farm with free range chickens, peacocks and pigs, in addition to lots of sheep and lambs. This lovely property retains many original features, such as exposed brickwork, period beams and natural wood, making it a truly special place for a cosy getaway with family, a small group of friends or for a romantic break as a couple. Set over three floors, this welcoming cottage boasts two tastefully furnished bedrooms, one of which benefits from an en-suite shower room, complete with a luxury multi-jet spa shower. The family bathroom is no less luxurious, decorated in a nautical style and featuring a period roll-top slipper bath, ideal for enjoying a relaxing soak after a busy day exploring the surrounding countryside. Downstairs you’ll find a spacious open plan living area, complete with a well-equipped kitchen, dining area and a snug sitting area, accessed down two steps, furnished with comfortable leather reclining sofas and a coal-effect fire, a great place to sit and enjoy your favourite tipple after dinner. Outside, the enclosed patio area is perfect for an alfresco meal with loved ones whilst taking in the stunning views of the surrounding countryside and watching the abundant bird life, including the resident peacocks that often make their presence known quite early in the morning. Across from the patio is a secure metal bicycle lock up so you can sleep easy after a long day spent cycling the peaks. Just a mile away from this characterful cottage is the pretty little hamlet of Sparrowpit, situated between Chapel-en-le-Frith and the village of Peak Forest and boasting a delightful chapel, a village hall and a quaint farm shop. For those who enjoy walking in beautiful countryside, you could not ask for more lovely routes than those to both Edale and Castleton, with its ever-popular Blue John caves. Alternatively, for cycling enthusiasts, the Tissington Trail takes in the wonderful views of the Peak District National Park and the spa town of Buxton is also within easy reach. Peacock Cottage really is the perfect base from which to discover all the Peak District has to offer.

The lovely rolling countryside of the Peak District National Park is home to the small hamlet of Sparrowpit. The hamlet is made up of a number of pretty cottages, and also has a village hall. This region of the Peaks is distinctly rural, and as such makes a great base for walking, climbing, caving or simply relaxing. Visit Castleton Caves, Haddon Hall, Alton Towers or Chatsworth House, stopping on the way to explore the quaint villages and market towns of this lovely area.

Very comfortable, lovely decor. Great location for the Peak District and also less than an hour by train from Chapel-en-le-Frith to Manchester. I intend to return!

All u would need from a cottage and great position for the runners. It was warm and comfortable as the weather was a challenge and we even baked some brownies in the well equipped kitchen.

It gave us a very relaxing time to unwind and chill. The owner Brian was very accommodating and went the extra mile to make sure we have what we need. The cottage is located in a quiet area and all amenities are in tip top condition. We would really love going back here.
