About this property

A detached, renovated cottage situated within the delightful spa town of Buxton. Resting in a central location, and boasting spacious interior, this accommodation is a perfect getaway for families. Step into the immaculately presented sitting room, which is a charming place to sit before the open fire. A dining room lies off from this, and makes a wonderful setting to enjoy those home-cooked meals. This sweeps over to a nearby kitchen, well-equipped and tied together by a light blue tone. Take the stairs, and the landing steers across to three double bedrooms which overlook views of Buxton. Lastly, a family bathroom breathes elegance into the property, and has everything you need to enjoy a refreshing stay. Outside, there is a place to store your bikes, a lawned garden to the front with a glorious seating area. The town of Buxton has a lot to offer with Devonshire Dome, The Pavilion Gardens, The Opera House and Hall Bank all on your doorstep. This is a well-appointed cottage in a vibrant location.

It was the constant 28 degrees centigrade of the blue waters of Buxton's eight thermal springs that originally attracted the Romans to the town. Today visitors continue to enjoy magnificent buildings and gardens, as well as the Opera House's full programme and annual festivals of music and arts. There is good walking close by with rugged peaks to the north and hills and dales to the south and a number of towns and villages are dotted throughout including Bakewell, Ashford-in-the-Water, Castleton and Edale.

Hayley called to let us know that we could enter the property early if we liked and when we got there we were delighted to find a bottle of wine and some biscuits. The property is very well equipped and spotless. Thanks for a lovely weekend

Lots of circular walks from the cottage and some nice pubs in town especially the Sun Inn. Good pub grub.

The property is very comfortable and excellently situated in central Buxton at the top of the hill with plenty of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants on the doorstep. The offstreet parking was appreciated and while the space is narrow it is not too difficult to get in and out of with some careful manouvering. It is a great base for exploring the area! The cottage has been decorated and furnished to a high standard, and had been decorated tastefully for Christmas which was a nice touch. The central heating works well and is on a timer so didn't need to be thought about. The sofa's and dining area are very comfortable and great sizes. The size of the property and rooms made the stay feel luxurious, and the blackout blinds worked really well. The water pressure and temperature in the shower was great. The kitchen was well stocked with things, and had a small number of pantry and cleaning staples if needed (ingredents, no foil or cling film). It was really helpful to have the porch area for storing wet coats and shoes, and the utility at the other side when coming in from the car parking space. It is an old building so slippers are advised in the winter if you're sensitive to cold floors. The woodburner was lovely to have in the cold weather, and it was very helpful to have the rack of poking implements, as well as a glove. We stay in rental cottages regularly so wanted to highlight some quirks that others may find helpful, we may have been more aware of them as inclement weather meant we were in more than we were out. These things did not affect our enjoyment of our holiday. * We knew the property was pet friendly, but was surprised to see so much dog hair on the living room rug (after we'd already started a jigsaw on it). A good vacuum would help, the floors otherwise were clean throughout. * Only bath towels were provided for guests, no hand/hair towels other than the one provided for the bathroom sink/s. * There were no towel rails/rings beside the sinks in the bathrooms, so we used the top of a cupboard to hang the handtowel upstairs. There are no hooks in the bathrooms or bedrooms for towels or anything else, so our bath towels were hung over the bedroom doors. There are also no bath mats, instead a bleach stained hand towel was provided for wet feet from the shower (which unfortunately suffers from an ill fitting surround so the floor and towel can quite get wet). * The listing suggests the beds are kingsize, I'd suggest they're probably not as we have one at home and neither double seemed king size to us. There is a noticable join that can be felt in the ziplink double. * Some of the kitchen crockery had been put away dirty but was easily washed. We didn't get on with the induction hob as we don't have one at home (gave up after one failed breakfast), equally we didn't feel the need to cook meals as there were so many places to eat out.
