The Peak District National Park is home to Tideswell, a little settlement in the centre of it. The community is particularly known for its well dressing and carnival wakes, and for its beautiful church dedicated to St John the Baptist, known as "The Cathedral of the Peak." Rugged peaks to the north, mellow slopes and dales to the south, and Millers Dale immediately outside the settlement all provide excellent walking opportunities. Mam Tor and Castleton are just a few miles distant, while Buxton, a prominent spa town, is approximately 15 minutes away.
