Private parking for 1 car. No smoking. Please note. The steep stone staircase may not be suitable for less mobile visitors.. This cottage, although quaint and cosy is the perfect size for a couples Peak District get-away. As you enter into the property into the sitting room, you are greeted by a warming log burner, along with comfortable seating, Smart TV and a dining table with two chairs. In the kitchen are all the appliances you should require including a dishwasher and free cupboard space to store anything you want to bring with you. On the first floor is the spacious bathroom, featuring bath with overhead shower, and the king-size bedroom with views of the village. Outside there is parking to the rear for one car, and to the front of the property is a small private garden with bistro set to enjoy your morning coffee or evening wine.
The village of Longnor is a great base to be, offering a traditional village atmosphere and beautiful views. The local village pub, only a couple of minutes’ walk away, has recently been refurbished and is opening again in August 2023. Outside of Longnor your nearest town is Buxton offering cafes, many delicious restaurants and great bars, plus the Opera House and Gardens. In the opposite direction is the town of Leek which is great for your high street shops. There is ample walking from your doorstep in Longnor with many trails to explore along with many more activities around you.

We loved our 3 night stay at Gem Cottage. It is a small but very charming cottage that is in a great location for all things Peak-District. The village of Longnor has some great amenities such as a pub, chip shop, sweet shop and cafes. We ate at the pub and chip shop which were both very nice. We did find that the cafes and chip shop are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays at the moment. We found the cottage comfortable and it was extra cosy when we had the log fire on! The living room is a nice size with a sofa and armchair. There is also a dining room table that was handy to eat at and a chest full of DVDs, games and books.The kitchen was well equipped with an oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, kettle, coffee machine and toaster. There is no freezer or washing machine but this didn’t bother us as we were only there for 3 nights. There was also some treats left for humans and dogs that was a nice touch. The bathroom is nice and big, with a full sized bath/shower and heated towel rail. When we arrived, we noticed that the shower hose had a split in it but this was quickly replaced by the hosts so didn’t impact our stay. Deb & Nigel were great hosts and were happy to answer any questions through WhatsApp/Phone call. They always responded very quickly to our messages. Overall, we would definitely stay at Gem Cottage again and have recommended it to members of our family!

Nice and clean and comfortable, quilt could be a bit thicker but everything was there for you, lovely treats for humans and the dog.
