The historic landmark or Arbor Low Stone Circle and Gib Hill Barrow is just a short drive north-west of the village, as are the tourist hotspots of Lathkill Dale and Magpie Mine. The market town of Bakewell can be found nearby, home to Bakewell Bridge and Thornbridge Brewery, whilst the site of Haddon Hall is just outside the town but well worth a visit. Buxton can be found to the north, where the sites of Solomon’s Temple, Poole's Cavern and Buxton Park can be enjoyed. Bring your family and friends for a memorable stay at Dove Meadows House.

With a market charter issued in 1203, Hartington, which is located in the Dove Valley of the Peak District National Park, was a significant market town in the Middle Ages. The ever-popular village now has charming tea rooms, a cheese shop, antique shops, local taverns, and a beautiful market square where the stone-carved village pump, which was once a crucial supply of water for the residents, still stands on the green. Local ales made at the Leatherbritches Brewery in Fenny Bentley and Whim Ales in Hartington are available in the neighbourhood bars. Around a mile and a half from the hamlet, the former Hartington railway station has been transformed into a picnic spot, and the converted track is known as the Tissington Trail and is well-liked by both hikers and bikers. A magnificent area with oddly shaped cliffs and rocks, Beresford Dale, may be explored on foot from Hartington. Alton Towers is conveniently located, and both Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall can be reached within a 20-minute drive.

Although we didn't meet the owners, they were very helpful in their email contact. An excellent welcome pack

Well positioned for exploring the local area. Good information from the owners prior to our stay and a fabulous welcome pack which was very much appreciated. We would definitely return!

  • Margaret

Extremely well equipped and comfortable. Spacious though still felt homely and cosy downstairs. Excellent [and very generous] welcome pack which we all enjoyed. We were three generations together to celebrate my 65th birthday and we were all equally happy with our surroundings. Great location - fabulous walks on the doorstep and great to be able to walk to the local pubs.
