A lovely stone cottage looking out across Wensley Dale - a walkers' paradise! - in the peaceful little hamlet of Snitterton between Matlock and Bakewell.
Situated in a quiet location with stunning views across Wensley Dale, this attractive cottage has been wonderfully created out of a mellow stone barn. With its restful furniture, contemporary facilities, and glorious log burning stove, Thistle Cottage is a great place to arrive back to at the end of a busy day.
Matlock is the closest town to the cottage where you can find all the necessary facilities needed for your stay; supermarkets, shops and plenty of pubs and restaurants. Hop in the car and before you know it, you could be going back in time exploring the history in Chatsworth House, riding a steam train or cable car, or marvelling at the views of the mighty Matlock Bath gorge. For the more adventurous, a trip to Gulliver’s Kingdom or a splash about in Carsington Water is a must!
Closer to home, take a wander from your doorstep into Wensley Dale or hike up to Stanton Moor and visit the Nine Ladies bronze age stone circle. If you're feeling hungry, take a stroll down by the river to one of the local pubs in Darley Bridge. Back at the cottage, snuggle up around the fire or take your favourite tipple onto the patio and chat about your amazing stay.

Wonderful, relaxing stay in idyllic countryside surroundings, waking up to birdsong and the sounds of the animals in neighbouring fields was a boon to the soul. Great hosting, friendly and informative, a perfect base to explore the southern peaks, would book again.

A private location, with fantastic views, made even better by the fab weather! Some nice options for food & pubs in Matlock, and nearby Matlock Baths, but not journeys to make regularly on foot unless you're reasonably fit - the hosts recommended a very reliable and reasonable taxi company. Lots of options to get out and about to explore the local area, eg Bakewell, Buxton, Heights of Abraham and Eyam to name a few.

Incredibly well positioned at the bottom of a picturesque valley, 5 minutes from Matlock's amenities and a short drive from Chatsworth and the big estates of South Peak District. We enjoyed the rural nature of the cottage and of Snitterton, lambs and horses and farms were amazing attractions for our children.
