Guests say

The Bottling Shed in Matlock is a well-received cottage offering a peaceful and private stay with stunning countryside views. Guests have praised its cleanliness, cosy atmosphere, and the added luxury of a hot tub. Its proximity to local amenities and attractions in the Peak District makes it an ideal getaway. While some minor maintenance issues were noted, the overall experience is highly regarded, with many guests planning to return.

The cottage is consistently described as spotless and immaculate, indicating a high standard of cleanliness. One mention of a stained mattress protector suggests a slight oversight, but this appears to be an isolated incident.

The location is frequently highlighted as great, with its seclusion, privacy, and proximity to Matlock and other attractions. The peaceful surroundings and easy access to shops and restaurants contribute to its high rating.

Comfort is well-regarded with mentions of a comfy bed and cosy setting. However, a suggestion for a larger bed and a note about a slippery shower tray indicate there is room for minor improvements.

Facilities are generally praised, especially the hot tub. Some guests suggested improvements such as additional towel drying options and anti-slip mats in the shower, which slightly affect the score.

While guests have expressed appreciation for the cottage's amenities and welcome treats, there is not enough information to assess the consistency of such gestures. Therefore, it's important to note that while these touches are appreciated, they may not be guaranteed.

Perfectly located, in peaceful surroundings, around 5 minutes from Matlock and Matlock Bath. The countryside views were wonderful and the welcome treats were much appreciated. The inside of the cottage was open plan and very cosy complete with log burner and central heating. The seasonal Christmas decorations were a lovely touch. The private walled courtyard, complete with hot tub and patio area was a great place to relax. By car, we visited Bakewell and Haddon Hall which were under 20 minutes away. The beautiful Monsal trail with Chee Dale stepping stones are only 25 minutes away. We saw Ashbourne, Milldale village and Dovedale which were around 30 minutes away. Further afield, we got to Hope Valley within 40 minutes which includes Bamford Edge, Ladybower reservoir and Derwent Dam. There are two supermarkets only 5 minutes away by car (M&S and Sainsbury’s). We had some great food in the Peak District. We’d highly recommend Lovage in Bakewell, The Duncombe Arms in Ashbourne, The Bulls Head in Holymoorside and The Bluebell in South Wingfield. Matlock Bath has several fish and chip shops and The Seafood Cave & Grill. We also ate at The Fishpond while there. For brunch/lunch and a sweet treat, Butter Fingers in Matlock was amazing! Thanks so much for a lovely mini-break.
