Home away from home for a week's stay. Cosy, comfortable 3 bedroom cottage within easy driving distance of shops for essentials. Huge bath for soaking in after long walks and really comfortable beds. The welcome pack was a nice surprise and much appreciated. There are steps up to the cottage but that wasn't a problem for us, the elevated position means the views from the patio are great. Quiet village location, pub open at weekends less than 5 minutes walk away.

I spent a week and a half at the beautiful Rock Cottage with my dog, Ted. The village it sits within is both picturesque and relaxing while the local community was friendly and welcoming. A traditional country pub, The Red Lion, was just a few minutes walk and boasts a warm welcome with a dog-friendly snug featuring a roaring fire where Ted and I a spent a couple of hours enjoying the peaceful environment, a quiet drink, and, for myself, a bit of me time reading and, for Ted, lots of fuss from the locals! The nearby town of Matlock isn't far to drive and there is a Sainsbury's supermarket not far away. The area is dotted with olde world pubs offering delicious food, most of which are also dog-friendly. The cottage itself was pristine and had everything we needed and more. It had a cosy and comforting ambiance which was exactly what I was looking for. There was a fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle, and all the crockery, utensils and cooking equipment I needed as well as a lovely welcome pack provided by owners Frank and Anne. Clear instructions were provided by Frank prior to my arrival and he was available at all times if I needed to check anything. I have never ventured away alone before so I was a little apprehensive but Frank and Anne made it a wonderful experience for me and one that I certainly hope to enjoy again in the future - fabulous hosts, a lovely home, and overall a five star experience. I would definitely recommend Rock Cottage for singles, couples and families alike (there are three very good sized rooms, a bathroom with shower over, and upstairs WC. Check it out - you definitely won't regret it!

Great cottage. Access via steps not a problem for us but may be problematic for others. Parking up the road not ideal but also worked okay for us. Local pub was brilliant as were the numerous walks using the footpaths and lanes to neighbouring villlages. Lots of historic sites were interesting. Good communication from owners too.
