An outstanding, first floor apartment just a short walk from the centre of Matlock, with views of the church and Riber Castle. 8 Tawney House has been individually styled by the current owners to create a first-class holiday home. The open plan living area is spacious, light and airy, with impressive mullioned windows to two sides, a modern well-equipped kitchen and views across the town to the old church. A delightful main bedroom with high ceiling and full-length mullioned window makes this ideal for a romantic break. On the edge of the Peak District National Park and just a short drive from Bakewell and the picturesque village of Ashover (Cardale in TV's Peak Practice), the apartment makes an ideal base from which to explore the region's attractions, including the majestic Chatsworth House and Carsington Water and sailing club. A holiday home of real quality and style!
The popular Peak District towns of Matlock and Matlock Bath have long been attracting visitors to the area. Since the Spa was developed in the late 17th Century, these pretty towns have been fashionable holiday spots and it isn't hard to see why. Offering a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, the Matlocks are set in the beautiful wooded gorge of the River Derwent and are home to the renowned attractions of Riber Castle, Gullivers Kingdom and the Peak District Mining Museum. The Heights of Abraham cable cars provide breathtaking views down the gorge whilst the park itself offers a wealth of activities for the whole family such as the nature trail, water gardens and Owl Maze. With so many walks and cycle trails through the spectacular scenery, The Matlocks make a wonderful holiday destination.

Pleasant walks into Matlock, or for catching buses to neighbouring towns/attractions. Perfect wifi. Good heating. âRoutineâ cleaning ok, but needs a blitz in some areas. Lovely leaded windows, but glass (inside) needs cleaning, and cobwebs need hoovering. As does food debris under sofa cushions. Hidden areas behind toilet and bed too. We left a list of simple things which we thought would change property from good to very good. For instance, remove obsolete appliance guides (TV instructions still describe non-existent Sky), a suction-cup shampoo holder needed in shower, etc. We would come again, if these relatively simple things â¦. some of which others have reported in visitor book ⦠were attended to.

Visitors need to be aware that it is up quite a number of steps, but once inside, it is a lovely place to stay. It is clean, fresh and bright throughout. The living area and bedroom are very comfortable and the kitchen area is well equipped. We stayed for a long weekend and there was more than enough to do within a very short distance - historical attractions, theme park, stately homes and gardens, interesting towns such as Bakewell, Belper and Buxton, as well as 3 preserved railways. We would definitely look to rebook the apartment if we decide on a return visit to the area.
