A charming cottage beautifully restored in the little village of Foolow with its lovely duck pond and local pub.
After a hard day exploring the attractions in the Peak District, Dormy Cottage is the perfect place to relax in and unwind. With its snuggly lounge, unique kitchen and pleasant bedrooms and bathroom, this charming 18th-century cottage has been carefully restored and tastefully finished. Located in the small, picturesque village of Foolow, the cottage is only a short walk from the village green, complete with duck pond.
The glorious countryside is a paradise for walkers; good routes lead up to Bretton and The Barrel Inn or over the fields to the delightfully named Silly Dale. Further afield, you might like to visit famous Chatsworth House or Haddon Hall, Bakewell’s famous market or Buxton’s Victorian Crescent. The Derwent Valley Dams, Winnots Pass and Castleton’s caverns are also nearby.

Compact, lovely cottage right opposite a decent pub. Entrance straight off the street (no porch). Well-equipped, bright, clean kitchen with access to a small, private, enclosed courtyard out the back. The kitchen has a gas oven/hob, compact dishwasher, microwave, filter coffee machine, kettle, toaster, fridge, and all crockery, cutlery, utensils and cooking equipment. No recycling bins. Decent living room with comfy sofa and two armchairs. Smart Freeview TV [inc Netflix] and decent, reliable WiFi. Downstairs bathroom which is quite tight, the shower lacks a curtain and water goes everywhere, but it was clean and airy and there was plenty of almost instant hot water. Upstairs a lovely, roomy double bedroom at the front and a nice single second bed. We stayed in September and didn't need any heating, the temperature was lovely in the cottage. Reasonable price and excellent service and information from Original Cottages. Warmly recommended.

Enjoyed a wonderful long weekend break at Dormy Cottage. The cottage is comfortable and cosy, well equipped and very handy for the pub. Happy to recommend this cottage and hope to return ourselves in the not too distant future.
