Very clean, kitchen has everything you need and the beds were extremely comfortable. We also enjoyed their box of DVDs with a good range for kids and adults. Location was perfect, walks straight from the door out onto thorpe cloud, also very close to Tissington trail walk and great access to high peaks and Ashbourne. Great pub the old dog which is 10 minutes walk (up a hill!) Or few minutes drive and Ashbourne has loads of restaurants and cafes only 5 minutes drive away. No phone signal but good wifi. This cottage was a little slice of heaven, a real tranquil escape. Highly recommend.

It had everything we needed and it was nice to be provided with milk, biscuits and a box of Christmas crackers (we stayed over Christmas), particularly as we had forgotten to bring our own crackers. The kitchen was well equipped and we could easily cook a meal for five, the beds were comfortable, and there is a decent hot shower. We particularly appreciated the use of the outdoor boiler shed to store and dry our wet and muddy boots and clothes, of which we accumulated quite a lot through the week. The location is perfect for walkers, with Dovedale, Thorpe Cloud, Ilam Park, the Tissington Trail and the Limestone Way all being on the doorstep. There are also several stately homes within easy driving distance. One very minor point is that the dining chairs pictured in the listing have been replaced by harder wooden ones, though this is hardly a deal breaker, and more hooks for hanging clothes and towels in the bathrooms and bedrooms would have been useful.
