This property as a natural water supply from a spring.. Located on the banks of the River Dane in the tiny hamlet of Gradbach, this superb farmhouse complete with a private hot tub, can be found in an unspoilt corner of the Peak District National Park, close to the borders of Staffordshire, Derbyshire and Cheshire. It is within the secluded grounds of an 18th century stone built silk mill. Both the former mill and farmhouse are steeped in history, with a quote dating back to the 1700’s describing the two ancient buildings as ‘being in one of the most delightful and romantic settings in the valley’. Surrounded by 16 acres the setting is indeed spectacular and the accommodation pays justice to this. With all bedrooms en-suite, a stylish farmhouse kitchen with range cooker and a beautiful oak beamed lounge the result is warm, comfortable and spacious. To make your stay as relaxing as possible, pre-prepared dinner options (ready to cook), breakfast baskets and pizza and drink packages are available. Please book in advance with the owner with at least 7 days’ notice.

The Gritstone Roaches, one of the UK’s premier climbing destinations and the wonderful hidden gem of Lud Church with its fantastic myth and legend, are also just a stones’ throw away. The spa town of Buxton with its magnificent architecture, shops, swimming pool and Opera House is just 20 minutes away, and the other Peak District towns and villages such as Bakewell, Tideswell and Hartington can all be reached within around half an hour. Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the beautiful honeypot village of Castleton are around 40 minutes away, and the National Trusts Quarry Bank Mill, Little Morton Hall, Tatton Park and Biddulph Grange are all nearby. Finally for those thrillseekers Matlock with its cable car to the Heights of Abraham can be reached in around 45 minutes and Alton Towers in around half an hour.

Very close to being a perfect staycation option. We went as 3 families so there were enough Bedrooms/suites and space for the whole group to spread out an enjoy with plentiful parking outfront. Personally enjoyed the running hike up to Lud’s Church (not a church but a bedrock walkpath). The Great.- The views of the property and surrounding areas- Great local hike spots- Large property to cater for big group, all rooms with on-suite- Hot Tub & Drying room- Have a small fusball room but we didn't use it- Large Living room with upto 16 seat Dining Table. The Not so Good.- The noise absorbtion of the property is not the best. Sounds tend to travel. We stayed in the middle floor, and the floor to the bedroom above (loft) would echo any footsteps or sound. Was irritating as i'm a light sleeper and for the first couple of nights wereby we all had different sleep patterns. - The property is located alongside a popular footpath and is in constant use through the day with the garden/living room (no blinds) visble to the public on the crossing if privacy if an issue.- We experinced a little water leak on the ground floor kitchen doorway twice when the showers were used on 1st/2nd floor but have informed the owners so they are aware. Wood flooring so was easy enough to soak up.Minor bits- The doors are fire safe but very heavy and slam shut due to mechanism, not great when trying to sleep, the kids struggled to move them so we had to keep them open in the day by obstruction.
