About this property

Sutton 2.9 miles. Set on the outskirts of the rural village of Wincle, a short drive south from Sutton in Cheshire, lies this fabulous, detached, stone-build farmhouse, Stag Cottage. Resting on private farmland, boasting off-road parking, gorgeous interiors, and superb views of the surrounding countryside, this beautiful property welcomes a family of six for a relaxing, self-catered escape near the outstanding Peak District National Park. After parking up and unpacking, make yourself at home in your wonderful new lodgings, by getting to work in the fully-equipped kitchen, complete with a central island and all the appliances you'll require to whip up a tasty, home-cooked dinner. Enjoy your meals as a family gathered around the dining table, or take your feasts outside into the idyllic rear garden, the perfect spot to sit back and raise a glass of your favourite tipple to toast your getaway. When you're finished wining and dining, take time to relax with an indulgent dip in your very own private hot tub, before you settle down to watch a film on the Smart TV in the plush sitting room as you're kept warm by the crackling embers of a woodburning stove. When sleep finally calls, head upstairs to refresh with a rejuvenating shower or a restorative bath before you finally hunker down for a well-earned rest in one of the three sumptuous, king-size bedrooms. Enjoy your morning coffee out back whilst soaking in your rural surroundings before you head out to explore your local area. In Sutton, stock up on essentials at the aptly-named Sutton General Stores, before you settle down to enjoy a hearty pub lunch at the historic Sutton Hall. For a day out, head east into the Peak District National Park, where Bamford Mill, Peveril Castle, and Speedwell Cavern are all waiting to be explored. For an unforgettable holiday in Cheshire, choose a stay at Stag Cottage.

The Cheshire hamlet of Sutton is located on the outskirts of the Peak District National Park and offers a variety of walking opportunities. Numerous moorland paths and networking footpaths are accessible from the Sutton area. The Peak District bike hubs of Tissington or the High Peak Trail, as well as several difficult hill climbs, provide excellent facilities for cyclists. There are various family-friendly pubs close by, and Macclesfield, Congleton, and Buxton are all easily accessible from Sutton. This is a fantastic Peak District base because the rest of the Peak District National Park is easily accessible, and there are many ancient homes, charming villages, the Alton Towers theme park, and other attractions nearby.

We spent a long weekend with friends there and we felt at home there straight away. It has everything and more that you could wish for! The hosts, Liz and Kelvin, were so friendly and helpful, taking time out to chat to us and helping us sort the hot tub out which is heated by a log burner! We loved that we could collect freshly laid eggs for breakfast from the chicken coup at the bottom of the garden. The scenery around is beautiful, ideal for a chilling weekend away. We visited Leek and Bakewell and the Ryals Arms just up the road does wonderful food! All in all we had the perfect weekend with friends in a beautiful cottage and the hosts couldn’t do enough for us. Would highly recommend and we will definitely return!

All furnishings and facilities are 5 star. The area is ideal for exploring the Peak District with plenty of local walks. The owners (K & L) are very friendly and you are left alone to enjoy your holiday. The cottage is located on a working farm and therefore for safety reasons you are not permitted to wander around the farm yards or buildings. We had a wonderful holiday, and even had some snow.

We had a really lovely time staying there and Liz and Kelvin were really helpful. Our daughter loved that she could let the chickens out and collect the eggs and she was fascinated by the goings on at the farm. Great location too.
