Morpeth is a historic town in Northumberland, England. The barony of Morpeth was granted to the de Merlay family in 1080, and by 1095 a motte-and-bailey castle had been built by William de Merlay. There was a pleasant outdoor space. The location was peaceful and within reach of some interesting and attractive places. We were within easy reach of Whitley Bay, Cullercoats, and Tynemouth. The beaches in the area are impressive e.g. Creswell and Durridge and Woodhorn Museum is worth a visit. The cottage provided a comfortable base with convenient parking at the door.
