. This property did not come up to the high standard we have come to expect from Sykes Cottages. On arrival, the downstairs loo, on first flush, was slow to empty. hoping that this was a problem that had already been dealt with during change over, we waited and used the loo for the next day. On the Sunday afternoon things were worse, and I rang the owner for help, but had to leave a message on his voice mail. No response until Tuesday morning when we had to make a further call requesting action - the loo was blocked and overflowing. The problem was eventually fixed, with difficulty, I think, but the impression from the response was that it seemed to be our fault for using the loo. Four of the eight ceiling lights were blown on arrival, and only three were fixed. This is a property to accommodate four adults, and I doubt that a single sofa would be adequate - the furnishings, equipment in the kitchen - especially crockery was sparse. Space for eating with swivel chairs more suited to an office. garden furniture were inadequate. Two pallets stacked next to a very neglected barbecue is not adequate garden furniture. We were told to expect a dishwasher - there was none, though the washing machine was helpful. We have stayed in some excellent Sykes Cottages over the years - this was definitely not one - hence the low scores. for that reason, I would prefer this not to be published, but leave it to you check the cottage comes up to standard.

Felt like another sofa would have made it was more comfortable.
